In addition to all the reasons our hobby is the greatest on earth, it can now be said, that it could increase your chances of survival during a pandemic. We're very fortunate to have a passion that exist indoors. Unlike most people during a quarantine we won't go crazy being cooped up and long to venture out possibly getting exposed to a bad germ. So being in this hobby can help save your life. I can say for myself, I am enjoying this extra time indoors. It also helps to get my mind off this virus that is looking more and more like a run away freight train.

Agreed, that this hobby is a lifesaver (pun intended) at this time.
A couple days ago, the morning switching job:
Gonna' get to work patching holes in the deck from previous track-plan tweaks and then see if I have some medium-brown paint down-cellar to finally paint the deck with.

Unfortunately, the current “conditions” in the US are creating economic hardship. People, are getting laid off in the droves. This ultimately may affect our hobby!

I believe you are correct. While most state and local government workers around here have guaranteed pensions, those working in private industry and forced to save via a 401K have most likely seen their retirement funds lose nearly 50% in value the past 30 days. Teachers have been sent home with pay, not sure about custodial staff, contractors, etc. Will companies be able to pay employees if they must stay home? And the time lag with layoffs if they are recalled?
While I would love to be able to work on my layout I have a few things that prohibit me from doing that. One item is I currently don't have a table setup to even work on my layout. I am slowly getting that taken care of, another thing is I am still waiting on having my basement finished for the waterproofing job that isn't quite yet complete, and the last thing is I still need to work in the office.
