In OST, I was looking at a #6 turnout pictured on page 24 from OscaleTurnouts, Inc. I'm thinking of ordering a couple of #8's to check out.
I was wondering if anyone has experience with their products. Comments?
Thanks, Howard

I checked them carefully at the national event in Worcester in June. Very well made and beautiful! I'd use them with pleasure. What questions do you have exactly?
Bob
Thanks a lot Bob. "Very well made and beautiful" was what I was looking for. That's how they looked in the picture. Definitely worth a try.
I also have checked them out and they are nice. I do have one reservation and that is the use of continuous points. Something has to give to get the points to bend. It could be a problem later on. I always use hinged points. No stress anywhere with hinged points.

Ed
Thanks Ed. I'm new to 2 rail O. I've noticed the resistance in some of the continuous point turnouts. I have and wondered about the reliability of using a tortoise switch machine being able to successfully throw the switch every time. I've only started to build.
Why did you say it could be a problem later on? Is it because of the possibility that something will work itself loose over time?
I can't comment on O Scale Turnouts, having not seen any, but I second taking a look at Signature Switches also. Looking over the ones Tom Thorpe displayed at yesterday's Cherry Valley swap meet, I can say they are a very well designed and built turnout at a very reasonable price. You can order them with or without floating points as one of their many options.
Marker, it is wise to research your trackage options before plunging into 2 Rail. Especially turnouts since there is junk and there are jewels. Here is a jewel...

I started with Atlas and am replacing all the Atlas turnouts. I am using Signature Switches now. It started with the need for a curved turnout and Brad filled the need. Because of my space limitations, I also have some more complex turnouts. I have a 3 way and a double slip on order from Signature. So you could say I am using all "jewels".
However, there is at least one place on my layout where the turnout is very close to the viewing edge of the layout. The Right-Of-Way components used by OscaleTurnouts seem to make for a more detailed look. I have ordered one turnout from OscaleTurnouts and will be using it in that one area.
Having these two companies producing such great product is a great help for this old guy trying to build his last layout. I wish I would have taken the 2 rail O scale plunge earlier.

I agree, between these two suppliers we have excptional availability which allow one to get into 2 Rail O scale without necessarily having to handlay. I'm older myself and i am also building what is probably my last layout. The choice of 2R O scale is like the ultimate model railroading expression in my opinion...good luck on yours.

Brad is now making exact replacements for the Atlas # 5 and Atlas # 7.5 turnouts. Simply lift out the Alas units and replace with the Signature switch.
The availability of P48 flextrack from Protocraft and turnouts from OScaleTurnouts is what made me take the plunge to regauge my locos and rolling stock. Protocraft now also has some p48 turnouts from Brad.
So now when someone says if your such a rivet counter I suppose you are also using 4'8.5" track I can say yes and shut them up.
Yes, i have a #8 P48 and it is flawless! And looks great too!
