It's a gate hinge pin.
Yep, still used on many types of gates to this day. Out in my wood shop I have a bin with about 10 of them in it.

West Marine knows those words. Many rudders hang from Pintles and Gudgeons much like a gate hinge pin and it's mating gudgeons. j

Reminds me of when I asked the employee at either Home Depot or Lowes if they had any Homasote. He didn't give me a blank stare, but he asked if it was like Creosote!!!
...and perhaps some scale modelers or even some hi-railers among us creosote their Homosote!
Some manuals refer to the shaft that an aircraft landing gear pivots on as the pintle. j
