The Brass horse and Theater cars are pretty spiffy !!!!  It’s too bad Scott isn’t doing another round of them and tie it in with the Broadway. They were expensive when issued in 2014 ! and I’m sure would be considerably more now. This one might be a tough askance. If Lionel does a run in plastic, I think that would seriously hurt a brass re-run.

Well if the 3/4 dome vs full dome price has any bearing, that 3/4 price was up $200.00 from the price of the full dome done 3? Years earlier.

Woukd you be willing to pay almost a grand for a rerun of the PRR horse/theatre car made in brass?

The price on Everything is creeping up. I’ll hate to see a price on these babies if they’re offered again - for anyone that wants them.  My advice - if you can afford something today - go for it today. It will only get more expensive later. And these Rarely show up in the secondary markets.
Cheers.

I wonder what minimum total # of cars would be required to make a run 2 of these beauties possible. The Theater cars were Penn only - 4 Possible.  I know of 2 total variants (including mine). The horse cars were offered in Penn, REA, SF, SP - 4 possible. I know of 1 SF (mine), 1 Penn.
I’d be in for a SP horse car, run 2.

It would be nice if buyers of the run 1 cars would show us their cars and help document how many variants there are of these cars. Pix of box ends shows which car # they are (probably).

I would really like a PRR horse car in 2R.  Monmouth Park Racetrack was in my hometown about a mile and half from where I grew up and, in its heyday, no less than 4 trains would park just west of the grandstands on a Saturday.  While I have never really done the research to see if horses were transported there by train, the racetrack and its associated yard tracks are along a part of the NY&LB I will be building one day.

Likewise, an ATSF one in 3r would look pretty cool on an M&E train.

There is an SP horse car at the Chandler Railway Museum here locally.  I need to get some good photographs of it.  I've done events inside it, but never paid a lot of attention to it.  I do know it has a monitor roof on it and I don't recall it having end doors.  It was more of an 80' baggage car with large doors on the sides with horse stalls on the inside.

A 2 rail Congo would be a nice set to have, but then I'd have to model part of the mainline to run it.  My future layout room keeps growing in my head.  Boy will my wife be excited!

I'd definitely take the horse car in 3 rail

Realistically, anything PRR, Western Maryland, or B&O done prior to 2019 or never previously done would sell to me. For items like the horse car where a road off the above systems might still show, I'd be in both for the home road and likely an out-of-system road too.

I'll have to dig through my issues, but the PRRT&HS society had an excellent article in the Keystone about the horse racing circuit of the late 19th into the 20th century in Maryland and Delaware and there were some nice images of horse cars.  They often rode as the first car behind the locomotive for the smoothest ride on the train and ran on the premier trains as the horse owners often rode on the same trains.
