Don't know if this was covered already, but was wondering if everyone from Atlas made it through OK?

From a personal standpoint, and many may disagree with me, I'd rather have everyone that works there safe and sound over knowing if there was any damage to the company's assess at this point. I just hope that they are all right.

Here's Rob's posting from the 3-rail forum:

"I can give you a quick update from Atlas.  Unfortunately the storm hit northern New Jersey quite hard and there are still wide-spread power outages.  Atlas is currently without power and there is no estimation of when it will be back on.  Until power is restored our web site will be down and our office will be closed.  Many Atlas employees are without power and some have suffered wind-related storm damage at home.

Those of us who are fortunate enough to have power are able to work remotely.  Please keep those without power in your thoughts.  The forecast is for very cold nights this week in our area...not a good situation.

Thanks Rusty for re-posting Rob's post. Like I said. I would rather know that everyone was safe and sound above all else. My best friend's father and stepmother lives not too far away in Paterson and evacuated to Manhattan to an above-ground apartment before Sandy hit, but lost communication during and for about 8 hours after the storm. It was agonizing to me seeing the look in her eyes as she watched NYC TV coverage online from Asheville, NC, not being able to do anything as the storm hit.

Good news is they are OK, no power or water where they are at, but they are safe. She also has friends that live on Staten that I hope are OK as well.

Sorry, if I'm off-topic for this forum. I just had to get all of this off my chest. Haven't done anything with the models lately, but hope to in the next few days.

Take a look at New Jersey Transit's website for photos.  It looks like the 1:1 train set will be down for a while.  I was especially shocked by the amount of water in the Meadows maintenance facilities.  There appears to be extensive damage to track, infrastructure, facilities and equipment.  The North Jersey Coast line was hit especially hard with several washouts, boats all over the right of way and catenary wire down.  My thoughts go out to everyone affected in the area.  It is truly a mess.

Dear List, as incredible this may seem, I live in Northfield NJ and my office building is in Somers Point NJ, both across from Margate/ Ocean City NJ barrier island towns. The Mainland area sustained VERY little damage,if any, and the barrier islands and Central/No. Jersey got clocked. Never lost power, dry as a bone, and Sandy made landfall Monday night  about 10 miles south of us around 5:30 and my wife and I were sitting at a local restaurant having dinner by 6:30. Go figure!!! A tale of two cities. God bless those in peril. John
