My thinking is S Gauge is their smallest market and not enough money in it to issue new product.  With MTH in so many scales they are spread out maybe to thin.  They seem to be slowing down on tinplate (another small market & that's where Mike started).

I'm surprised they haven't added N   &  Z gauge or have they?

When I spoke to MTH at the WGTS in February they said they were next working to get the S Helper Steam Engine out next.  Only once everything was out would they issue a new catalog.

Imagine if the auto makers wouldn't release next year's models brochures untill all of this year's models are gone....

There's still about 50% of the SHS freight cars that haven't been re-released.  Who knows how long the 2-8-0 will take.  It only took 4 years and change to get all the F3's out.   I'll keep breathing and look to American Models.  Admittedly AM hasn't been exactly a ball o' fire, but at least they've had some new stuff over the past few years to tweak my interest.

Sounds more like when all the "5 or less in stock" items are gone there might be a new catalog.

Some honesty from MTH would be nice.  We are all big girls and boys, if they are out they are out, but come on, communicate what you are doing with S Gauge.  Even if it’s a exit.

Weather you are a fan of Lionel’s direction or not with S, I think they deserve credit for an open line of communication, even if maybe THEY don’t know exactly where S is going, they are thinking out-loud and participating in a conversation with the S community a heck of a lot more with us than MTH.

Darn shame.  SHS stuff was fantastic for any scale, the extended vision caboose rivaled anything in plastic I have seen in any scale.

Makes me feel confident in my decision to significantly divest in S.

I went to York Thursday.  Not sure it meant anything, but on the MTH layout the standard gauge tinplate, HO, and O-gauge trains were running around their loops without interruption.  The S-gauge train would start and stop, start and stop...  I didn't talk to Andy or Mike.  They looked busy plus as long as MTH is just reissuing what SHS already made (with another proprietary command system that I don't want or need), I'm not interested.  I bought and converted enough S-Helper that I've already sold some off.  Great stuff, by great people.  Long live Don and Robin.  Try to be(come) original MTH.

While at York, I passed by the MTH booth, and noticed NO S running at all.  What little on the shelves looked good, but compared to the rest of their line-up, quite pathetic.  I didn't even stop long enough to ask anybody since they seemed to have better things to do.  So I bought a ton of "things" from under the tables, like some other guys do.  Frankly, I don't need any more trains, and what little I will buy in the future depends on if it catches my eye or not.  There was a TON of NOS things there, but no bargains.  Oh, I did pick up a PE extra add on car from Charles Ro's blow-out table ($30!), and a couple older issue Flyonel items (sans boxes), but it was more for the experience to see things not seem anywhere else.  All in all, York was fun, but this will be my last one.
