Hello all. Really going to miss the Indy meet, and it's too late for me to arrange travel to the Strasburg show. Anything else worth going to between now and the end of the year?

I don't know where you are located Jay, but:
Greenburg show in Edison, NJ this weekend
OF COURSE York in October
Allentown First Frost in November (2nd only to York, IMHO)
There may be another Rennigers Kutztown, PA show too - check their website.
Here on Long Island monthly local shows start to spring up in September/October; Lindenhurst, and the COL show in East Islip to name two
Greenberg shows in various parts of the country. Various regional TCA, like METCA here in the NYC area, have shows in the fall. First Frost in Allentown to me is a good one (in November). Where do you live,? Are you willing to travel? Big country, lot of shows
*added note: Your profile shows CA, I don't know if that is current, but I did a google search on "California Train Shows" and it looks like there are events in the fall and esp around the holiday season....

The shows mentioned above, are 3-Rail shows. Please note that the original posted ask his question on the 2 SCALE MODEL TRAINS Forum.
Is it possible to find both 2 rail and 3 rail trains at a train show? Or is that against the law.
Maybe the thread title could be changed to indicate only 2 rail train shows.
The OP doesn't seem too distraught over the situation.
Thanks for the replies so far. I'm in California, primarily looking for 2-rail shows. Not against going to York, assuming I can find a little 2-rail there.
Itching to get out of town, but want to plan early enough to get low airfare.
Tulare,Ca will have a train show in November. Not sure if much 2 rail will be there. This is the first year. The organizers are hoping to pull sellers from all over. I know sellers from Washington and Arizona will be there. It might be worth checking out.

Please note that nothing in the post suggests that he was limiting his query to 2-rail shows only. Maybe lighten up a little?

Oops, I guess I'm in hot water for not noticing the portion of the forum the OP posted to - my apologies. Sorry for trying to be helpful in this case.
That said, if one can't find two rail scale in York or Allentown, one is not looking hard enough and, one never knows what they'll find in local shows

Tons of 2-rail at York, not to mention stuff like scenery works fine on 2-rail layouts.
O Scale Central, formerly known as O Scale Kings will be represented at NMRA in St. Louis next week.

I thought you needed scenery specifically made to 2-rail specifications for 2-rail layouts. Learn something new everyday!

Hi Lionel1946,
I also live in Southern California, in Ventura County. Before the pandemic, I would typically attend at least two train shows a year hosted by the "Great Train Show" organization. You can find their schedule on the trainshow.com website. According to the website, they won't be hosting any shows in So Cal this year. If you can hold out until the first quarter of 2023, they show three upcoming shows:
February 11-12 - Costa Mesa, CA
February 18-19 - Ventura, CA
March 18-19 - Victorville, CA

Is Wheaton (Chicago area show) still functioning?
@colorado hirailer posted:Is Wheaton (Chicago area show) still functioning?
Don't know, but there was very little 2-Rail O SCALE there anyway. Mostly 3-rail and HO. Plus, the same guys with VERY high prices for 3-Rail, month after month.
I plan on attending this one in October ( likely will not have a lot of three rail though)
It's always a good show albeit not on the size scale of O Scale West, the National or Chicago.
There’s a Strasburg show the Saturday before York in the fall. If you have to travel you could double up in one trip.
The Parma, Ohio show is this November 5th at the UAW hall. No H.O. or other scales permitted, O scale two rail only.

That could turn into a real train-vacation, as in between the Strasburg meet and York, there are the bandit meets (and I have seen some 2-rail there at the Wyndham outside), and plenty of opportunities to visit train shops like Nicholas Smith and JusTrains, the other RR attractions in Strasburg, like the PRR Museum, Strasburg RR, Choo Choo Barn, TCA Museum, and then there are historical sites like Gettyburg.
I also want to add that I have seen plenty of 2-rail at York. At least one big Atlas dealer in Orange Hall brings 2-rail trucks for the freight cars they sell for those that want 2-rail. It is also present in the member halls, but it takes more hunting there.

Absolutely agree.
Also, whether or not you ride, the Harley Davidson factory tour in York is most interesting to visit

I use a combination of scenery material. I like Woodland Scenics small ballast which is probably better for HO, IMHO.

Milwaukee's TrainFest will be held during the second weekend in November 2022 on both Saturday 11-12-2022 & Sunday 11-13-2022.
It will be held at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, WI.
All scales of model trains are represented.
Lots of vendors, manufacturers, RR Historical Societies, & modular layouts.
Sometimes OGR has a booth there.
I always enjoy my visits at TrainFest !!!

Thanks for all of the resposnes. York and Fort Worth sound like the two most promising.

Tons of 2-rail at York?
Really? Please do list them.

1, 2, 3...
Really? Since every show is different, that's impossible until you're there.
Since this thread is under the 2 rail listing, the really good 2 rail shows this fall that I am familar with are Cleveland on Nov 5 and the Strasburg (PA) show Oct 15. Both of these would almost all 2 rail O scale with a smattering of 2 rail. of course scenery and building product work both ways.

The Southwest O-Scale Meet in Fort Worth is back this year

Yes, and sadly very little of either appears at Strasburg. The Harrisburg show in April 2023 may be a better bet for structures and scenery. The Timonium all scales show is generally good for scenery supplies.
For those missing the fall Indy meet, from what I am reading the Danville Indiana show on the 19th is going to have one room dedicated to O and S scale trains. Its an NMRA CID division show, flyer is on their website. I should be there, so I can report if its mostly 2 rail O and non Flyer S scale stuff in that room. AD
Albany NY annual Train show . Dec 4th link below:
Anybody interested in Toy Shows. The Sunday after Thanksgiving at York Expo Center in Blue and Silver halls. Large event.

well said John....
New England Model Train Expo, 12/4 &12/5, Marlboro, MA. Not sure if this is just a trade show or a buy/sell event. I'd suggest calling one or two of the exhibitors before flying all the way to Boston for this event.
