Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could and would like to provide an update on whats going on in WV with the restoration of C&O 1309? I checked the WMSR foundation Facebook page but it doesn't look like it has been updated lately. Cheers.

While I know anything can happen with steam engine overhauls, which are totally understandable. There's a very good chance I be in the area in late July, and I'm hoping she'll be ready. Would love to see her under steam
Ain't that a pretty sight! Sure want to be there when she steams across the bridge the first time.
Very nice, thanks Kelly!
Tubes were delivered today.
I'm impressed. Looks like things are movin!
Cool. Do you have any other photos of the work that has been done so far? Thanks.
TWO COMMENTS IF I MAY...
- This thread is about 1309, not 844. Keep it that way.
- When you reply, please DO NOT COPY A WHOLE POST WITH IMAGES just to type a short reply! Use the blue "Post Reply" button at the bottom of the page, not the "REPLY WITH QUOTE" function from the drop-down list.
Great to hear the tubes have come in. I saw a separate post some place about a grant that would allow for replacement of one of the firebox sheets. Has that already been accomplished?
I have to say I am hugely excited to see big steam in action on the East Coast. Now if only some of the Reading Co articulated's had survived....(Hey I can pretend can't I?)
That said I think the family will be making the pilgrimage to ride behind the 1309 once she's ready to roll. Keep up the good work!
Hear hear
Great pictures Kelly, and thanks for your part.
Great to see everything coming along, as schedules are sometimes hard to keep!.................Brandy!
Beautiful drivers. Makes me want to machine some tires . . . Nah, I'll just watch.
I do not believe that there are ANY compound articulateds running in the US, so this will be something to see (and hear)!

The tourist railroad out in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the "Black Hills Central", operates a 2-6-6-2T (former Rayonier logging locomotive) that is indeed compound.
Yeah, but if you ever seen em run, back in the day, there ain't quite nothing, like "C & O Steam"!
