I came into a "2360" GG-1 recently - that was just too good looking...was pretty sure it was a repaint - and even more sure now that I have it.
Looks like a 8550 repainted as a 2360 - darn nice job. Came in the 8550 box. Someone just let go of a load of Welz repaints - all looked to be 8850s repainted - but this one was from a different vendor.
I know Elliot Welz stamped most his work on the inside of the shell - but I was hoping to not have to take it apart.
I don't know if Len Carparelli marks his work - seems I remember asking him - maybe the answer was "I can tell"
Is there anything about the finish or placement of the stripes that identifies these guys? - Or am I doomed to take this thing apart?
Obviously, I could be another artist besides the two I mentioned.
This is a 5 stripe tuscan - it is puzzling, as it looks like the headlight lenses are vintage (yellowed) - but that might be something added by the repaint artist.
The PRR heralds are more like stickers than decals.
This also lacks any label detail - my Welz Amtrak 926 has "Water" and some other labels along the bottom of the body.
Can't find my card reader - but I have some pics to add later.
