I really do love the Lionel heavyweights they've been putting out for the past 10 years or so. But my biggest issue is, the ends of the cars are as boring as dirt. The diaphragms are to long, no anti-rattle bat, not even a brake wheel! At least MTH gives you those details on their newer heavyweights!

 

My question is, has anybody added detail to these car's ends? Or even added extra detail to them what so ever?

 

I know there are a few brass detail packs to achieve a more prototypical look. If you have pictures, please post!

Hand brakes on heavy-weight (and light-weight) passenger cars were located inside the vestibule on one end. 

 

The exception was if the car had blind ends (no vesitubles), such as a diner, lounge, RPO or baggage car. Then there would be an exterior hand brake on one end as well as another hand brake joined with it inside on the opposite side of the car's end wall.
