Anybody print their own billboard inserts?

I have made several kinds. Card stock for the old Lionel frames.  I use plan paper and mount to clear plastic for ones that are back lite and the light shines through. 

I made this one for my for-real antique car with Paintshop Pro. I collected a bunch of other 'vintage advertisements' off the web, saved them all on a flash drive and printed them out at a local Walgreens one-hour photo shop.

When I built the Acme Beer warehouse for the club layout (to cover an access hole), I made up the billboards for the sides from Acme Beer advertising. Acme was  brewery in Los Angeles (there were several others back in the early 20th century). It took a little doing to snag the artwork.

I used regular inkjet photo paper for mine. The bulbs are bright enough to illuminate the sign well without needing special translucent paper, and photo paper is stiff enough to mount in the frame.

I printed these on some gloss paper at work.  I sized them for the Menards Billboard. The light shines through.

My daughter made two from photo's taken when we all got together at Lancaster a few years ago. Really nice. Son in law made frames and posting so they could free stand or be mounted.

Here's mine.  Basic hp printer, backed with thin cardstock.

Printing on heavy photo paper is my technique. More stiff than plain paper.

Get or take a picture from a magazine, Lionel catalog etc. and get Walgrens to print out a 4 x6 photo for 25 cents.  I believe photo prints will out last ink jet prints which fade more.   Old or new post cards will also work.
