With the popularity of the series, and I am starting to see diecast for S and G scales already, has anybody thought about putting the Dutton Ranch on their layout? The real ranch its based on is on Montana Rail Link trackage, or BN if you go back pre MRL. One could even custom paint a few stock cars for the ranch to move live stock. I modeled the MRL/BN back in my HO scale days. Might be fun with Lionel. The do plenty of BN and a couple MRL units in the older USA made product line(no far east made stuff on my railroad). I bet a pair of F3's would look good in BN or even MRL colors even though they didnt have F units. They did run ex BN low nose GP9's and SD40/SD40-2s. AD

Perhaps a train station on the edge of a cliff with a pile of skeletons at the bottom...
With Rip walking back to his truck! lol! There are so many scenes that could be modeled in some shape or form. Other than Len C, I wonder if we have any good custom painters that could repaint a set of F3 shells to MRL or BN colors? BN did have F units so MRL could have had them if BN had kept them in service longer. I remember reading the crews were not pleased when the F units were retired as they were much warmer in the brutal winter months than the hood units. AD
Model the Dutton Ranch with room only for a couple of loops and sidings?
John Denver, Looking For Space (1975)And I'm looking for space
And to find out who I am
And I'm looking to know and understand
It's a sweet, sweet dream
Sometimes I'm almost there
Sometimes I fly like an eagle
And sometimes I'm deep in despair
What, me worry?
If one has the space to model the ranch, go for it. I doubt most of us have the layout space the model the whole set up.
Nope
