Chuck, that's the neat thing about these type of shows; they can spark an interest and we can learn more through research.

 

Years ago I had learned about the Johnstown flood disaster resulting from the failure of South Fork dam; I recall that there had been calls to reinforce the dam before watching that episode, and seeing the computer generated effects reinforces the horrible event that occurred. All in all it's a decent series. Compared to the general garbage on TV today, it's very interesting and serves to remind us of our nation's industrial roots.

I admired Jay Gould and his innovative strategy of printing extra stock certificates,watering them down and cheating other shareholders. Much like today where our government prints money and waters down the earnings of those holding dollars diluting its value. History does repeat itself.

Look at where the Pentagon is scrapping several nearly new locomotives.(referenced in another OGR thread)  Now that's WASTE.
