For several weeks now, besides running my layout during the day, I been turning the overhead lights and all room lights off and then turning all the layout buildings, pole lights, etc. on. Seeing my engines coming down the tracks with only the headlights and tail lights of the caboose going through the countryside with only crossing light flashing as they cross roadways. Coming into town and the lights of businesses, stations, etc. illuminating the train cars. Passenger trains seem to be more alive as those riding can be seen more distinctly though briefly as they pass by. Being able to see the switch lights I can switch tracks and trains without problems.

Seems night running has increased my fun in running my trains

Ever since I was very young, I enjoyed turning off the room lights and running by night.

Though, only by twilight, the following video is a passenger coach ride through a 10-year-old iteration of the Great Northeastern Railway. The ride starts at the Terryville suburban station, through the yards, around the city of Christopolis with no scheduled stop in Union Station, into the long North C & T tunnel and back to Terryville. You are riding behind a MTH, RailKing, PRR K-4s with Protosound 2. At several points during the ride, you are passed in the opposite direction by a PRR passenger train led by a MTH, RailKing GG-1. Enjoy your ride.

I always like running at night, but vividly recall the night I fell in love with it.  Gramps wasn't home but Grandma decided to run them.

She shut off every accessory that made noise or output a lot of light. Put a General and WARR coaches and Superchief with streamiliners on the rails, killed the lights, and insisted on silence. The silence part killed me until I gave in and relaxed and we sat for about two hours in silence, except for the two trains and shadows laughing softly at the sleeping towns they cast themselves on seemingly reluctantly.

It changed my outlook on running. I never got any coaches back then, but I no longer asked for freight cars.

Jumping back into the hobby, a few passenger cars where first on the list. I've only bought 4 freight cars and two sets since then (12-15 total?). But about 30 passenger cars are on the shelves now.

If you're not a "Night Rider" IMO, you are MAD

...to the max 😁

This is from a fav. night shoot. Not the best from the bunch, but easiest to find right now

As John H said above, this is a repeat from a short time ago.  Still a fun one though as new ones are shown.

I think mine meets the criteria of the title of the thread: night RUNNING

It's one of several that I can contribute.  Since I change my Christmas layout design each year the paths are unique, but in a way, merely repetitive of this one.

Quarter Gauger, you wouldn't happen to have track plan of your layout, would you?

Kevin, I sent you an E-Mail'...........

Thanks for the e-mail TD.

I would never had guessed that it was a stretched Figure 8 with an outside loop.  The night running threw me off.  Now that I know the set-up, I can't believe that I didn't notice it before .
