anyone doing septa or philly trolleys?

I think MTH did a septa trolley not sure if they ever did a PTC TROLLEY.

Yes, I have a number of SEPTA and earlier PTC trolleys -- see my FLICKR Photo Album of ALL of them shown on the streets of my Layout - LINK BELOW

Here ALSO are some photos of just a few of mine also -- and yes,  MTH did do 2 SEPTA trolleys - one in the early 1970's Goldenrod scheme and one in the 1980's "GOH" All White with Red & Blue band around the body.

 

IHP does the Kawasaki Car as a kit but you must assemble and paint and detail the whole car.  CORGI did some postwar PCC  cars painted in the SEPTA and PTC schemes, but they are long ago discontinued....as are the earlier MTH "SEPTA" and "PTC" PCC cars.

Don't forget Corgi produced PTC PCCs. GHB International produces an O gauge truck for the Corgi PCC and the 3-rail version is still available. I've also seen SEPTA versions of the MTH PCC.

CORGI, from what I heard and read,  was bought out by another firm and for the present has stopped its production of models of  USA streetcars and busses.

I have the MTH early Septa version (gold), and the Corgi red, white, and blue, which is motorized for 3 rail.

If you have money dripping out of your pockets (they are more than $500 these days), St Petersburg shows both a Hog Island car and a PCC. Once you buy one you still have to power it.

I have a St P. Red Arrow car and it is beautiful.

If you're a kt builder, some show up on ebay.

The Bachmann single trucker in United livery is a pretty good representation of an early Phila (way before SEPTA or PTC) trolley. Current Line offers to convert it to std gauge for $25; don't know if the offer still lives.

wbb/Bachmann offers a Peter Witt in PTC livery with the wrong end. It is reputed to be an excellent runner.

Joe Frank...great pictures.  I like your use of the embosed paper for the streets.

In addition to above, Philadelphia Peter Witts pop up on ebay occasionally.  Also not mentioned is a Corgi Philadelphia Birney that is quite prototypical and fairly available. Subways will require some kit-bashing.  MTH's New York Lo-Vs for example can be modified to resemble the first Market Street el cars.  There is hope on this front, however, as IHP is planning O-scale kits for both Broad and Market Street subway cars.

Western Hobbycraft made what it called a Philadelphia car modeled after its highly accurate and successful Johnstown O Gauge die cast beauty. All they did was paint the Johnstown car green and even kept the Johnstown destination signs.  There were no identifying decals.  They also did the same thing with their "Chicago" car by simply applying red paint. Nevertheless they are truly beautiful works of art.

I love the streetcars.  Had a chance to ride several of the cars belonging to the Market Street Railway when I was in San Francisco this past Summer.

Some awesome pictures.  I have a red arrow car with sound.  Its awesome.  I mainly do a Christmas platform.  But i have a huge basement now also have all the rmt septa stuff

MTH Rail King has a SEPTA PCC.

Back in the late 1990's Alfred Cappelli Hobby Shop down at 3rd and Market Sts. in Philly was selling these complete with power.  I believe they didn't have a reverse unit but they were beautiful and fairly expensive.  My wife and I were having lunch at the old Bookbinder's restaurant and walked to Cappelli's and saw them.  I went back a few weeks later ready to buy and they were sold out.

 

Also, Bowser made a green PTC Birney trolley, also single direction, that I did get at Joe's Train Station back in 1990.

MTH made a Brill in PTC and also A PCC in Septa Gold and one in the PTC Green paint with Septa lettering. I seen at least one of the green cars with the PTC wing hearled but not sure it that was applied aftermarket. PHM was going to make 5200 series DE cars for the Septa museum store but the owner passed away and they were never made. Atlas also made the Brills in PTC. I wish MTH would make the Brill car in PRT which did pperate that style car until 1932. They were all scrapped by the time PTC took over in 1940.
