Wondering what kinds of experiences others have had with Westchester Central Trains in White Plains, NY?  Do they have a decent amount of MTH merchandise on display?  Anyone use their service dept. for fixing MTH engines?  Thanks for any insights you have.

Based on what people have told me, Tony, one of the guys who works there is the only one who is a customer oriented person. In general most of the comments I get from those who have been to that store is "I'll never go back there again."

You will find just the opposite in customer service when you are at Tom's Trains in Ardsley. Tom and his staff are really great and the store

Westchester Trains was not the hobby store on Post Road.

Westchester Trains is owned by the fellow who had the store on Lake Street Across the street from my house (Mike Pettugine). I lived in White Plains for 30 years.

The store on Post Road was Westchester Hobbies and was owned by two fairly crotchety old men. The old White Plains Mall is a very depressing place. Avoid !

the best train store I White Plains (there were 3!) was on Quorropas Avenue.

Westchesterites might be interested in our train night n Carmel, April 5.

Contact me.

Roundhouse on Quorropas!!  I loved that place! (Grew up in Scarsdale) Westchester hobbies was great when I was a kid also.  Didn't they move a block up the Post Rd and have a fire?

i stopped by Westchester Central and Tom's when I was up visiting in January.  Tom's was a great experience.  Nuff said.........

People are a little confused, so let me help! The Roundhouse was on Martine Ave, it is now occupied by the Post Office across from 7-11. There was a hobby shop called Westchester Hobbies on Post Rd and Cromwell owned by 2 old men. It caught fire, SUSPICOUS!! Then Mike Pettigine opened Westchester Central Train and Hobbies in the late 90's, about 1997 on the corner of Post Rd and Broadway, across from Alexanders was, and he is now in the old White Plains Mall under the same name. That being said Toms' Trains is the best in area.

The one and only experience I had with Westchester Central Trains in White Plains was an MTH repair. The place was listed by MTH as an Authorized Service Station within 25 miles from my home. So I brought in for repair a 0-8-0 Premier Engine that had died on me. Boy did I get the run around. I was first told that parts were on order. When I inquired as to the status of the repair I was told that it was sent to MTH for repair.

Weeks passed, so I called MTH for a status check and was told that they never had the locomotive in their possession. However they did tell me that Westchester Central Trains had called them, received an RMA #, but never shipped the locomotive to MTH.

With that info, I contacted Westchester Central Trains and told them I wanted my locomotive back within a week. Got it back from them in the same original condition, still broken. I then sent it personally to MTH for repair. Who the heck knows where to locomotive had been all that time? All this occurred over a period of 3 to 4 months.

Now I call that very poor customer service. I have never been back in that store.
