I'm going to add a standalone elevated loop to the club layout for trolley service. I'm going to use the excess fastback we have. I want it to be about 5.5"-6" tall and make my own elevated trestles. I was just wondering if any of you guys had made your own and if you had any diagrams available. No sense reinventing the wheel when we have so many talented folks here!

OGR just recently ran a series of articles with plans for tall trestles.
Rich actually posted the free plans - here is a link to the thread:
Thank you Jim & Paul! That's a great plan, but pretty elaborate for my purposes in this instance. I was thinking of taking a section of 2x4 6 inches long and cutting an inverted U in the bottom. Then notch the top for Fastrack (Of course I could just screw it into the wood)... Shoot some gray paint on it and be done. Would this idea work?
Generally speaking, street car track construction was simpler and lighter weight than RR construction. You wouldn't have to make your trestle that complicated although, I think you mentioned it be pretty tall. Did I misread ?? Your idea will work if that is what you want. Simple and straight forward.
Just re-read your post. Trestle bents that low were common and look neat but your idea is OK. I would paint it more to look like concrete though.
Just my opinion I don't think Fastrak looks good installed over a trestle.I would convert to Lionel o scale tubular or Gar Graves.Good luck on your project.Nick
So what you need to do is build yourself a trestle jig. Then just lay your basswood in and and glue them together. I’ll see if I can find a picture of my buddies. He makes super cool trestles.

See under the announcement section here about the Ocean County Society of Model Railroaders. We just re-installed our wooden trestle from the previous layout onto our new layout. It is on page 5 or 6 of the thread there.
