I have been waiting for almost an hour to speak with a customer service official. I am also having problems finding out if I can buy spare parts to do my own repairs for this locomotive. I am frustrated at this point and would appreciate any advice from anyone. Thanks.

Hang in there! I've had mixed results myself calling.
Here are a few things to consider:
1. Are they open today?
2. If they are, they could be swamped by all the requests by new train owners after Christmas.
3. I usually send an email, again with mixed results
4. And of course these are not huge companies like AT&T or Wells Fargo with thousands of employees sitting in Iowa waiting to take your call.
I hope you get your issue handled.
I believe they only accept calls after 1 PM You can order parts througha girl named Midge or any authorized service tech. Their parts listings are pretty bad on the website

Good advice already. And I'll bet they are extra busy after the Christmas season. Lots of new trains out there.

Absolutely true! However, be sure that when leaving Midge a message, you give her the full MTH product number you need the parts for, as well as your phone number, so she can call you back. (410) 381-2580 EXT #516 for Midge in Parts.

if you dont have the product number, give her the RR & train name and the engine number..id done that too..Midge is great to deal with..just got my sound chip and tender teather..
The website is not very useful, and email is never answered for me. They seem like a company that does not have a good manager.
Lionel customer service and parts has been great. Whoever made the decision to bring Mike R and Jon on board has my vote for president of the model train community.
