I have a few K-Line coil cars that I'd like to install Kadees on; has anyone done it?
thanks,

I've done the reefers. The trucks are a pain in the******. I eventually replaced the trucks with Atlas.
Yes, I'll dig up some pics.
Hi Mario
The only one I have pics of is a die cast hopper that I use for transition. You have to cut off the claw as you can see from the pics. Drilled and tapped holes for the screws which probably is not needed on a plastic car. Its just like doing a Lionel. Good Luck.

Very interesting-- In looking at the K-Line coil cars, how is the underframe designed? The reason I ask is if these cars can be lowered, it would definitely add some appeal. In addition, you would eliminate the shims-- love using Kadee couplers for sure.
In addition, to Ray's post- you actually don't need to cut the claws off- unscrew the coupler, and loosen the sideframe screws enough to "wobble" the coupler out of the socket. If that is too tight, you can remove one axle and then remove the coupler- just an idea, as I've done several of these trucks. Great ideas here--
All great stuff!
Thanks!

The cars could be lower if you used smaller wheels. You do not want the 3-rail wheel sets rubbing on the bottom of the car.
