Just wanted to see if anyone knew of a dealer maybe at York who might want to break up this set. I only need the cars.It's the American Flyer Iron Monarch set from the 2012 tinplate catalog. Thank you.

When I was deciding whether to purchase the Red AF engine, I was hoping to get the red hamilton passenger cars. Same exact thought you had...presidential cars are a bit big for my modest board and lets face it...over 1000.00 for passenger cars is hard for me too justify! I have decided to pass on the red presidential engine for now.

I have always loved the Presidents special engine and to have it in red pushed me over the edge! Thanks Norm for the tip I'll check it out. Seafoid: I don't have the set but If I can find a dealer who wants to break up a set I'll be in touch.
Chris, I know what you mean. I wanted the Pocahontas cars, that only come with the Warrior steam engine, but I wanted to run them with the Shasta locomotive, and I had no interest in the Legionnaire cars that come with the Shasta. I ended up getting both sets; preferences like that can get expensive.
As Seafold suggests, your best bet may be to get the set at the best price you can, then sell off the loco you don't want, you will probably do as well or better than having a dealer split the set.
An alternative would be to look for vintage Pocahontas cars instead of MTH?
