With all the yacking about working with Strasburg RR about all the details, I can only hope that they noticed minor things like the paint color in the smokebox, especially the current color that they could see with their own eyes!

For the sake of all that ordered it, personally I hope that they noticed major things like the size and spacing of the drivers (all artwork I've seen to date show much too small drivers spaced too widely vs. the prototype).

Any recent news/updates for this train?

I would like an update from Lionel as well. Last I had heard was late September, but would like to see if that is still the target timeframe.

Lionel is not transparent with updates to their shipping schedule which is frustrating. I understand that it changes and they have little control as to when items arrive, but they should at least post regular updates.

I'm not overly optimistic about it, John.........but I'm glad I gave Snoopy a good laugh. Based on the last 2 new MTH steam locos I purchased this year, I would have more confidence in the quality of the end product if MTH had chosen to build the Decapod. To my knowledge, their steamers are still built in Korea, while #90 is coming from China. If this were any other loco, I'd pass on it, but like many people here, I have waited a long time for#90, so I'm going to take the risk.

Are you sure it's coming from China?

There are several youtube videos showing Lionel steamers being manufactured in a Korean factory over the last couple of years.

It is hard to say if all their engines are in one basket here or there. I think that they may be split up depending on how they are put together. I do know some things I have bought have been from all three places, but that is split between engines and passenger cars. Hard to say unless Dave has said where from exactly in one of his Demos with Dave segments. All we can do is hope that whoever has built it, has done a no flaws on this engine job.

Yesterday I received an email reply from Heather at Lionel customer service, saying the ship date, which, according to her, is the date it arrives in Lionel's warehouse, is 12-31-22, and she confirmed that the loco is being produced in China.

I had thought in the Big Boy video that Lionel had with TrainWorld had said that these were on the water with a whole host of other things? I don't remember if the Class A was including in that or not, but remember Dave said #90 was.

Well if arrives in Concord on 12/31/2022 it could very well be on the water now depending on times with port congestion. In reality it will get here when it gets here.  Lionel, MTH, and the others really are at the mercy of so many unplanned factors.  We could complain but there is nothing they can do.

Class A shows a ship date of 12/13/2022
