1st Lionel Legacy Engine for me. Was curious, to everyone's paint scheme. Got the 2000's one.

I ordered one, the 1967 paint scheme. That was the paint scheme on 90 the first time I saw her, and it has always been my favorite.
John
I ordered one - the 1990's version. It was a toss-up between that one and the 1967 version. If they weren't so expensive, I might have ordered both.

Pre-ordered the same one! Very excited to see it in person, I think I heard that they should be arriving in June(?)
This will be my second Legacy engine
I'm getting the current paint scheme. I figured it should look like it does now so visitors recognize it.
I ordered the 2000's paint scheme since that was what I saw when I was out there in 2016. Black everywhere, let's just hope the boiler is the right color.

I'm hoping for black!

It's that grey/silver sort of color on the boiler. Only GW one looks like graphite and I think one or two others are all black.
With all the yacking about working with Strasburg RR about all the details, I can only hope that they noticed minor things like the paint color in the smokebox, especially the current color that they could see with their own eyes!
We ordered 2231020 - the 1990s scheme.

The price is equal to my whole train budget for the year! I will pass. JohnA

That would be the smokebox. The boiler is behind it.

For the sake of all that ordered it, personally I hope that they noticed major things like the size and spacing of the drivers (all artwork I've seen to date show much too small drivers spaced too widely vs. the prototype).
Bit the bullet and pre-ordered the 1967/2020 egg logo model. Wanted something a bit more dressy, and I think that version is a real looker.
Any recent news/updates for this train?
I pre-ordered the 2000’s paint scheme.
I wanted to order the GW version, as long desired, and it surprised me when actually offered. But it was more expensive than hoped, and l reluctantly kissed it off.

That's the one I ordered. I sure hope it looks a whole lot like this or I'll be disappointed!

I would like an update from Lionel as well. Last I had heard was late September, but would like to see if that is still the target timeframe.
Lionel is not transparent with updates to their shipping schedule which is frustrating. I understand that it changes and they have little control as to when items arrive, but they should at least post regular updates.
One of the recent Dave Demo episodes (I believe the one on the class A) indicated these will likely be out by late November/early December.

I think I heard this as well - I wonder if they have received painted samples at least? They already have them for the brass challengers.
Just looked at Charles Ro since that site updates expected arrival dates on the item pages.
Looks like 90 has been bumped to February 2023... I thought these were shipped? Maybe it's a mistake on Charles Ro's end.
Looks like they marked the F40PH's to February as well, which I can understand for those, at least. I guess only time will tell.
Both the USRA 0-6-0's and VISION Class A's are still marked for December availability on Ro's site.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if a bunch of stuff starts slipping.
Looks like everything we have ordered is delayed. I informed my 13yr old and he isn't a happy camper.

That's why you use traction tires!!! You of all people should know that John
Maybe the reason for the delay is they are taking additional quality-control measures.

I'm okay with that - what I do not like is the lack of updates from Lionel themselves. The other manufacturers are transparent about their shipping updates.

I'm not overly optimistic about it, John.........but I'm glad I gave Snoopy a good laugh. Based on the last 2 new MTH steam locos I purchased this year, I would have more confidence in the quality of the end product if MTH had chosen to build the Decapod. To my knowledge, their steamers are still built in Korea, while #90 is coming from China. If this were any other loco, I'd pass on it, but like many people here, I have waited a long time for#90, so I'm going to take the risk.
Yep, I cringe about paying the amount I have to pay for this, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they come through in good shape.

Are you sure it's coming from China?
There are several youtube videos showing Lionel steamers being manufactured in a Korean factory over the last couple of years.
We're not even sure it's coming Rick, much less where it's coming from!
I have an email from Charles Ro saying it's coming from China.
I could've sworn I heard lionel moved production of most of their stuff to Vietnam

I think that's rolling stock, I don't think any engines are coming from there yet.
It is hard to say if all their engines are in one basket here or there. I think that they may be split up depending on how they are put together. I do know some things I have bought have been from all three places, but that is split between engines and passenger cars. Hard to say unless Dave has said where from exactly in one of his Demos with Dave segments. All we can do is hope that whoever has built it, has done a no flaws on this engine job.
Yesterday I received an email reply from Heather at Lionel customer service, saying the ship date, which, according to her, is the date it arrives in Lionel's warehouse, is 12-31-22, and she confirmed that the loco is being produced in China.

I had thought in the Big Boy video that Lionel had with TrainWorld had said that these were on the water with a whole host of other things? I don't remember if the Class A was including in that or not, but remember Dave said #90 was.

Well if arrives in Concord on 12/31/2022 it could very well be on the water now depending on times with port congestion. In reality it will get here when it gets here. Lionel, MTH, and the others really are at the mercy of so many unplanned factors. We could complain but there is nothing they can do.
Class A shows a ship date of 12/13/2022
