I was planning on a Lionel Post War setup around the Christmas Tree this year. However, I stumbled upon some online videos of Broadway Limited Imports (BLI) HO AC6000's. Wow, digital HO trains have really come a long way .... just as our big trains have! (Still, they're not as cool as 0   )

In particular, they have CSX AC6000's in the same paint scheme as my Legacy units. I thought it may be neat to have them running side-by-side under the tree .... each with their digital sounds.

Anyone have some fun mixing the different gauge trains?

Sure!  I don't have the space for a large layout so my plans have centered around a compact stacked layout similar to the active display in my LHS.  It needs to fit in my crawl space area but be modular enough to get through the access way.

Here's a photo of the second prototype.  I wanted bigger loops so I never finished it. I've since disassembled it and gave it to one of my employee's son so he can get a jump on the hobby. (I did keep the whiskey tumbler/beer holder assembly for myself.)

The third prototype is still on paper at this time.  Incorporating the lessons learned from the first two. I also wanted to work the Atlas O-90 and o-81 loops into the lowest level for larger steam.  I also wanted it to be simple to breakdown, transport, and re-assemble.  That way maybe I'll take it to the Dupage Train show at some point.

When operational I'll be able to run 6 HO-gauge and 4 O-gauge trains at the same time.  I'll live with the creative "compressed" perception of depth as one's view looks up the mountain.
