I read in another post that the MTH Z1000 brick can cause damage to LionChief locos even when used with a RailKing Controller with the AC voltage set to as low as 8 volts. As described and demonstrated in the post, there is a DC component up to 26 volts exceeding what the LionChief locos can take.
Does the same problem exist with the MTH Z500 and Z750 bricks?

I have not heard of these problems. I ran my new Halloween LC+ mikado for hours with a z-1000 on halloween night.

The old Z-bricks were rated at 24 volts, those I would be reluctant to use with the LC/LC+ stuff. Newer Z-bricks are 18V and are fine for LC/LC+

I just bought two additional passenger cars for my grandsons LionChief Polar Express set and thought I may have to use one of my Z500 or Z750 bricks if the little 36 Watt wall wart wasn't enough for the additional car lighting.
