If I understand it correctly, then the old pics are not here.

When the new version of OGR went live in early 2011, all the active threads were archived, and should be found.  Any thread started after is here to be found, but it might take some work.

But under the old format of OGR Forums, any thread that hadn't been updated after six months evaporated.  A lot of good photos from the early days of OGR are gone.

Would you like those who attended in 2009 to post some oldies here?

Here are a few of mine.  I believe Tim is right, that the threads older than 6 months when the new forum went live are gone.

Dichotomy of modern steam - all work, and all business.  This private car was on site seemingly as quarters for event organizers and/or crew.

Finally, here's a link to my youtube playlist of the videos I shot during my time there.

Got it made in the shade.  What I liked about the 2009 Trainfestival is how so much of Michigan joined in.  It wasn't just an event taking place at the museum.  Banners and specials were taking place all over the area.  Even in Flint and Durand, which are not that close by Eastern city standards.  They all seemed to welcome the tourists.

One of the many long distance travelers to the event.  Southern 6133 from the North Carolina Transportation Museum

A mini-611 on a short stretch of track to join in the fun.

Home town Hero no. 1225 had a tube problem which sidelined her after Thursday.  Southern Pacific 4449 also came a long way to the Festival, which really made the event take on a special tone.

The newest player on the field.  Central Pacific 63 "Leviathan", completed in construction just a few weeks before in West Chicago.

The smaller locomotives stayed near the turntable.

Speaking of small... The most popular rides of the Festival.  More photos to come.

I had my digital camera and film camera that week... These are some of the prints digitized.  Here is Viscose no. 6

35030093

Little River RR no. 110.  A very early 4-6-2.  I would ride an hour long trip behind this one on the Sunday of the event.

35030095

MLW M420 no 9712 and Flagg Coal Co. no 75.  My first encounter with this steamer was TrainFestival 2004 in Dennison, OH

A side view of 75.

35030102

West meets East.  SP 4449 faces off with Nickel Plate 765. This would be a 4449 train trip to Alma, MI

Back at the festival grounds, a tale of two end cars.  Above is Missouri Kansas Texas no 403, executive car for that RR at one time.  Below is Ann Arbor caboose.  Open to the public to enjoy.

Milwaukee Road 261 just began her restoration, but she was at the Fest in spirit.

This was tough to get a decent outdoor photo.  This will have to do.

That business car belongs to the Marshal family, and John Marshal usually has it right behind Mil Road 261. John had is car forwarded to Portland Oregon, along with the rest of the Mil Road passenger equipment that SP 4449 hauled all the way from Portland to Owosso, and back. It is truly a spectacular car, as well as being Amtrak certified.

35030001

You know it's an important festival to a town when they allow one of the main roads through town to close for 4 days.

35030002

TrainFestival greetings seemed everywhere.

35030014

A side trip for dinner in Durand allowed a few of us to enjoy other rail attractions.

35030015

Durand was a big Grand Trunk Western town at one time.  4-6-2 5632 sits near the station.

35030016

35030017

Amtrak still stops here.

35030018

A friend of mine giving the history of the station.... with his eyes closed.

35030020

Canadian National speeding through town.  The track was being re-structured to take some rails away from the station.

My only shot of Little River 1.

And another of her big sister, 110.

I wish I had more time at Trainfestival 2009, but I was only able to spend one day there.  It was before I got into photography so my photos are just witha basic point n shoot and didn't come out well.  On the SRI homepage they are advertising "Train Expo 2014".   I doubt it will be at the level of Trainfestival 2009 but it should be fun.
