i HAVE TRIED TO FIND THE 2009 OWOSSO MI Trainfest Pic's and cant seem to find them? Did we loose the pic's as we moved to this forum?? Thanks

If I understand it correctly, then the old pics are not here.
When the new version of OGR went live in early 2011, all the active threads were archived, and should be found. Any thread started after is here to be found, but it might take some work.
But under the old format of OGR Forums, any thread that hadn't been updated after six months evaporated. A lot of good photos from the early days of OGR are gone.
Would you like those who attended in 2009 to post some oldies here?
Tim I think that if people who went to the 2009 Owosso Trainfest would post any pic's they have here it would be great. I kbow GYW Ralpf took some great night time pictures that I hope he would post. Thanks for the suggestion.
Here are a few of mine. I believe Tim is right, that the threads older than 6 months when the new forum went live are gone.
1225's builder plate
765's tender backside
What I understood to be machining records on 765's rods showing work done in 1950 & 57
4449's builder plate and number board.
4449 decided to pick up some tree limbs along the way.
Air pump maintenance after a day on the road.
4449's tender backside.
Ahh, the joys of oil-fed steam.
765 crew members greasing the rods.
4449 had a turbo swapped out before her return trip.
The FWRHS had the 765 looking great, including all of the small details.
765's stoker engine.
765 pulling her train to the boarding area.
FWRHS crew members topping off the fluids.
Rich and crew ready to depart Owosso.
Loading area showing the coach class boarding.
With 765 out of town, 4449 and a cold 1225 hang out in Owosso.
Dichotomy of modern steam - all work, and all business. This private car was on site seemingly as quarters for event organizers and/or crew.
Forum member Zac enjoying the view before topping off the 765's tender following the day's run to Alma.
Polishing rods at the end of the day.
FWRHS members treating the water.
765 getting the train ready to board 1st class.
The view from my seat in the dome as the 765 tiptoes out of Owosso through the crowds.
Engineer for the morning was Andy who provided a very smooth ride. Here the crew is relaxing in Alma after the run.
Here we find the 765 and crew back in Owosso after another smooth trip back.
Finally, here's a link to my youtube playlist of the videos I shot during my time there.

It is possible that the Train Festival may still be archived. The trick, however is to use the PROPER name when searching, i.e "Trainfest" is a model railroading event at the large fair grounds in the Milwaukee, Wisc. area every November. the event in Owosso, Mich. was called "Train Festival".
Thus, one might try searching for Train Festival, 2009.

Hotwater thanks for your help.
Eliot thanks for the picture and link. Its a shame to loose all the wonderful pictures that people had posted back in 2009.
WOULD OTHERS LIKE TO POST THEIR PICTURES FROM 2009 TO HELP REBUILD THE FILES FOR Owosso. Thank you.
rALPH THANKS FOR POSTING SOME OF YOUR PICTURES. i LIKE THE NIGHT PICTURES OF ALL THE ENGIMES TOGETHER AND BLOWING OFF STEAM.
Rick very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Got it made in the shade. What I liked about the 2009 Trainfestival is how so much of Michigan joined in. It wasn't just an event taking place at the museum. Banners and specials were taking place all over the area. Even in Flint and Durand, which are not that close by Eastern city standards. They all seemed to welcome the tourists.
One of the many long distance travelers to the event. Southern 6133 from the North Carolina Transportation Museum
A mini-611 on a short stretch of track to join in the fun.
Home town Hero no. 1225 had a tube problem which sidelined her after Thursday. Southern Pacific 4449 also came a long way to the Festival, which really made the event take on a special tone.
The newest player on the field. Central Pacific 63 "Leviathan", completed in construction just a few weeks before in West Chicago.
The smaller locomotives stayed near the turntable.
Speaking of small... The most popular rides of the Festival. More photos to come.

I had my digital camera and film camera that week... These are some of the prints digitized. Here is Viscose no. 6
Little River RR no. 110. A very early 4-6-2. I would ride an hour long trip behind this one on the Sunday of the event.
MLW M420 no 9712 and Flagg Coal Co. no 75. My first encounter with this steamer was TrainFestival 2004 in Dennison, OH
A side view of 75.
West meets East. SP 4449 faces off with Nickel Plate 765. This would be a 4449 train trip to Alma, MI

I think this is Ithaca, MI. Staged photo runby at a park with 4449.
Two views of 4449 in Alma.
The bright colors really stand out in the deep green of the trees here.

Back at the festival grounds, a tale of two end cars. Above is Missouri Kansas Texas no 403, executive car for that RR at one time. Below is Ann Arbor caboose. Open to the public to enjoy.
Milwaukee Road 261 just began her restoration, but she was at the Fest in spirit.
Unrestored Pere Marquette auto boxcar, and freshly restored bunk car.
This was tough to get a decent outdoor photo. This will have to do.

On the chase of 765. Caught her in Alma.
Get off the track!!!
Runby time at the same park in Ithaca.
SuperDome
Action shot
Reflecting on the journey.
Perhaps the most scenic, historic backdrop on the route. The feed mill.
Fields of Steam
My best smoke shot of the Festival
Heading back to Owosso. A colorful string of cars.
About one block from the Festival grounds / railroad museum.

That business car belongs to the Marshal family, and John Marshal usually has it right behind Mil Road 261. John had is car forwarded to Portland Oregon, along with the rest of the Mil Road passenger equipment that SP 4449 hauled all the way from Portland to Owosso, and back. It is truly a spectacular car, as well as being Amtrak certified.
Bill & Adriatic, Thanks for your nice comments!

You know it's an important festival to a town when they allow one of the main roads through town to close for 4 days.
TrainFestival greetings seemed everywhere.
A side trip for dinner in Durand allowed a few of us to enjoy other rail attractions.
Durand was a big Grand Trunk Western town at one time. 4-6-2 5632 sits near the station.
Amtrak still stops here.
A friend of mine giving the history of the station.... with his eyes closed.
Canadian National speeding through town. The track was being re-structured to take some rails away from the station.
My only shot of Little River 1.
And another of her big sister, 110.

Adriatic, you sure can!

Done! Thanks......now that's a desktop!
Even more stunning photos...keep them comin' guys.

I agree. Perhaps when this thread runs its course, we can re-live other past events by sharing our photos. After all, they are no fun to sit in a drawer or on our hard drives collecting digital dust.
I wish I had more time at Trainfestival 2009, but I was only able to spend one day there. It was before I got into photography so my photos are just witha basic point n shoot and didn't come out well. On the SRI homepage they are advertising "Train Expo 2014". I doubt it will be at the level of Trainfestival 2009 but it should be fun.
Kevin OUTSTANDING PICTURES!!! Thank you for sharing with us.
Lots of nice photos of the Independent Hi-Railers, Mid-West Division. Thanks for posting.
Hot Water you are welcome. I did not know any of the guys from the Hi Railers but later learned who Rich T. was since he and I share an intrest in GTW. Thanks for your comments.
