Are the AMERICAN FLYER PRESIDENTIAL Cars the same size as the LIONEL COMET Cars ?

American Flyer Presidential cars 19"  Blue Comet cars 18.5" close enough.

American Flyer 4696 Brass Piper cataloged last in 1936 with four 14" cars ( set 1428R Warrior )

The first Presidential set was 1926 with a electric 4039  three 19" cars in "Imperial Buff" paint, no eagle no pony trucks

No reason a 4096 could not pull three 19" cars.

American Flyer Presidential cars did not have any interior detail.
