I recently got the Lionel Lincoln Funeral Train and really like the incredible modeling detail of loco and cars.
I am interested in the two cars in the extension set (the two rearmost cars in the train shown above - they have two trucks each as opposed to the car that carried the casket that came with the basic set, which has four trucks). The two extension set cars are identical (without numbers, etc. - absolutely the same nearly as I can determine). Does anyone know if "non-funeral-car" versions of these cars are available? They are wonderful models, nice looking, with good detail, great interiors, and good details on the vestibule railings, etc. The funeral bunting and placards are glued on, so "normal" versions would be easy to manufacture. Has Lionel done so?
This morning I posted some questions on the Real Trains forum here about the original prototypes. Many sources say all the cars were early Pullman cars, but the four-truck car that carried Lincoln's body was actually made for the President's use at the Military Railway Shops in Alexandria, VA the year before. Lionel's model of that is a very accurate rendering of that early "Air Force One."

The body castings of the two-truck cars in the extension set are identical to that of the body for four-truck casket car: I imagine Lionel made just one mold and used it again for those two, which is fine with me if I could get more of them. They are wonderful models.
Anyone know if they are available?
