No, it is not cheap, unless you live in the area and get an annual museum pass and can go multiple time a year.  Still, there are other things to see and do there, and it really is no more expensive than going to a baseball game.  And after Thanksgiving, they usually add The Polar Express and Rocky Mountain Express in the Omnimax theater rotation (and the Rocky Mountain Express film is absolutely spectacular).

Of course, if you also visit the casino next door, it could turn into a very expensive visit...

Thanks, Andy, for sharing this.  I have never been to the Carnegie Science Center, and it clearly is a good place to put "on the list".  I looked at the Miniature RR and Village Overview on their website and agree that the layout detail shown in the scrolling pictures looks top flight. From the exhibits listed, it is well worth the price of admission. And for the 65+ crowd, we can get general admission for $5 on all Tuesdays.

We always enjoy our visits and never considered the price of admission over the top.  I think that the price is pretty reasonable--you can stay the whole day long--not bad for a Saturday or Sunday in mid winter.

It would be great if could have a chance to run our trains on that layout like we did a few years ago.  What a blast that was!

Throw in parking and some lunch, I think it is expensive. I liked the sub when I visited but the RR was closed !!  The rest were sort of video-gamish but I did enjoy beating the game where you shoot a puck at the goal.  Beat it every time-the Pens could use me. I want to visit the RR layout in Gibsonia this year. Has been awhile. It is HO but have an O gauge layout, too.

Around here it takes ~$100 for two people to attend a minor league game, including parking and minimal refreshments!  Makes the Carnegie Center admission look like a super bargain, especially if it can be reached by public transit.

During my "formative years" we lived within walking distance of The Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium - grandstand admission $1.30, bleachers $.50, hot dogs fifteen  cents, beer (Rheingold or Ballantine, depending on the venue) thirty-five cents, courtesy of Harry M. Stevens.  For all that dough we got to see the Yankees of the fifties (Mantle), the Giants (Mays), and the Mets of the early sixties (Rod Kanehl).  Back then the owners ripped off the players somethin' fierce, but at least they didn't rip off the fans.
