Things are cookin' at Buffalo Creek Vacations in Clyde NC, home of the Smoky Mountain Model RR Club . This morning a team of professionals delivered our 'new' 1943 WW2 Troop Car along with a magnificent crane to move and lower it into place. The car was brought from a town near Toledo OH to western NC on a flatbed and today they made the arduous trek the final 1/2 mile from the bank of the Pigeon River onto the Trinity Bison Ranch, home of Buffalo Creek Vacations. They have 4 cabooses with three that are in the process of being converted into luxury 'hotel' rooms here in the mountains. One is fully functional and stays pretty well booked now.

The Troop car has been coupled to a 1951 MP caboose and both are being restored to their former Road names and will become wonderful places to stay. The other cabooses are two Seaboard Family Lines units along with a Southern BW caboose that is set up for children's parties. Our club layout is situated alongside these cabeese and will hopefully be open to the public within the next several weeks.

These guys who drove and operated the equipment to accomplish this today were amazing!

Sam, thank you for sharing this. This has got to be very exciting for you and your club. Reminds me of the Weaver Troop car. Also that semi pulling it reminds me of a small diesel switcher with the colors. Also I've very impressed how that raised the ground to level the track. Great work Sam and great job to the Smoky Mountain Model RR Club for getting this car and caboose.
