I am from Lexington and my wife is from Carter County (Carter City). We had her family's farm until about 8 years ago. We live in VA now which is difficult during basketball season.

I don't live there now....did years ago. Was there a few weeks ago. The mainline through town is why I love trains I believe!
My dad had one job after college.....working for Ashland Oil so I too want the refinery, scaled down, on my layout.

My late father worked in Russell for the C&O/CSX ,and I work out of Kenova for the NS.

My uncle Jimmy was the PR and biz relations guy for the C&O in Huntington. I've spent a lot of time between Huntington and Ashland.....some great RR spots to visit!
I'm in KY, but at the other end of I-64 by that Other River. :-)

Do you have a layout. I'm building a new one and trying to find some people to help.
Yes Dave a lot of good photo spots around this tri-state area. Did your uncle live in Kenova ? I may know who your referring to if so .
hrspla, unfortunately no ,I have had a temporary 4x9 board for about ooohhhh 19 years now but I do have plans to expand ,when I get the time.I hope it's not one of those retirement projects
Grew up in Russell, Kentucky. It is just downriver from Ashland. I now live in Lexington, Kentucky, but my childhood Russell home is still occupied by my mother. My dad, grandfather, and uncle all worked for the C&O railroad.
I am in Portsmouth, Oh, two whistle stops down river from Ashland. I have an 8'x 12' basement corner duck-under layout which I have been renovating since retiring in 2011.
