It’s an annual event that turns the streets into vendors, displays, and layouts.  Most are about trains.  Many things to do for the kids and lots of business for the local train store Tiny Tim’s Toys and Trains.  Based on some people on the cam, plenty of beer available also.  It grows every year.

I see my son on the video.  The red caboose trailer on the right of the town clock is our club’s portable trailer, Rappahannock River Railroaders. It was made from a boat trailer and made  to look like a caboose.  All sides lift up and has a nice O and HO layout. We run LionChief and give the remotes to the kids to run.

This is a list of train related displays:

  • Spring Run Railroad (H0 gauge)

  • D & M Railroad (Z gauge)

  • Irish Family (O gauge)

  • Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad Historical Society

  • Old Dominion Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society

  • Railroad history information

  • Rappahannock River Railroaders

  • Richmond LEGO® Users Group

  • Silver Rail Club (O & N gauge)

  • Rappahannock Model Railroaders (O gauge)

  • Tiny Tim’s Trains & Toys provides Brio trains for kids to play

  • River City 3 Railers

  • Tidewater Big Train Operators (G scale)

  • RF& P Model Railroad Club, including

    • Richmond Area Ntrak Model Railroaders Club

    • Virginia Piedmont & Central H0 Model Railroaders

  • C&O red caboose, c1926

  • Brio toy train set for kids to play

  • Railroad history and exhibits

Rail fanning included special tickets to take Amtrak to the event from Richmond Main Street Station.  Lots of train viewing provided by CSX and Amtrak.  CSX personnel on hand to keep people safe at the crosswalks.

Son took a picture of this car during the event heading north, attached to an Amtrak.:
