I am just curious what happened to 1) Gandy Dancer's in Chamblee and 2) Southeastern Hobby Depot on Peachtree...between Buckhead and Chamblee. I had fond memories of both. Of course currently Legacy Station makes up for both of them 100 times over but I am still wondering what happened to the others.

Well, apparently no one knows what happened to the two train shops
that you asked about. I just know that i'm glad that we have Legacy Station.
It's a great place to go train shopping.
I agree. But the other places were fun. I think Drew Tuggle owned Gandy Dancers. It was in an old house. Jonathan Lathbury is in ATL and he is one of the finest Lionel service stations around. He can repair anything and find any part. Super nice guy.
Drew and Carol Tuggle retired to the coast, Jacksonville Florida area. Southeastern I believe was owned by Scott Griggs current owner of Trainz.
I believe eve this is corect as it has been a while.

Is Tom White still around? Is he still in Buford, Ga.?
Has anyone done business with him?
I believe Jonathan Lathbury started out working for Tom White at Olde House Hobbies on Peachtree Rd. back in the 70's.
Jonathan is a great guy.
I don't Tom White. Jonathon Lathbury also did repairs for Gandy Dancers he was a great guy. Jonathon was one of my signers when I joined the T.C.A.

Well in case anyone is still interested,
When I owned the Train Works in Lawrenceville, I also bought Southeastern Hobby Depot, and before that The Train Connection, another Atlanta store. Then when I went bankrupt with that misadventure in 1997, Brian Sheffield and his wife Val bought our assets and opened Legacy Station.
Then in 1998, Milinda and I started over in the basement on eBay while I went back to work in corporate America at HP. That turned into Trainz.com. Then in the early 2000's we bought the trains and parts from Gandy Dancers, then some years later also bought out Tom White who owned Buford Junction. Then a couple years later Tom reopened Buford Junction again, although a lot smaller, then a couple years later when his health was really failing, we bought him out again. Tom passed away a few years ago.
