I'd love to do a lot of roads, but as mentioned before...I have to sell 75 cars to break even. and thats just not easy to do.   Also, I have my doubts about how many ppl want to spend 83$ on a car that isnt all that detailed....

I understand that there isnt all that much MoPac and MKT out there...maybe some day it will be advantageous....or one of the bigger establishments will give it a go.

thx for asking tho....

Hi Beth,

Thank you for asking for suggestions here. I'm happy to see the MEC and EL boxcars. Here are some more 40-footers that would fit late 50s to mid 70s-era layouts. I always look for more "boxcar red" cars. I know the mfrs want to make colorful stuff but most trains were still mostly brown before the 80s.

Delaware & Hudson, shield logo

Canadian Pacific, "stair-step" CPR lettering

Northern Pacific curved letters, without the giant NP

Louisville & Nashville, NOT blue and yellow

Baltimore & Ohio, no slogans

Thanks!

I was going to ask if you could commission more Raritan River Railroad stuff (or Rahway Valley) but I figure you'd probably have a tough time selling all of it.

1.More Raritan River is in the works.   Im just waiting for the cars that I want, to be set up for production again.

2. New cars/new tooling......Ive talked with the companies with whom I have a good working relationship, and they just arent interested in investing in new tooling right now.   Any investment money is going into upgrading older tooling, and resurrecting some older tooling that hasnt been used in 15-20 years.

3. Buffalo Creek box cars were produced by Atlas twice.   I may have a few left...if so, I'll put them up on the web later this week.

4. Atlas former MTH PS-1 box cars and PS-2 covered hopper cars.....These cars are late 1990's tooling, and do not have a lot of detail, and very few separately applied parts.  I believe that Atlas will eventually upgrade these cars, but in their present state, they are not up to the standard that i believe commands  Atlas Master Line Prices (84.95/car retail) .

Right now , IMHO, the Atlas Trainman "sliding door" 40' box car  is more detailed, at 15 to 20 less per car, and the Master Line ACF (AC-2) covered hopper is incredibly more detailed than the former MTH PS-2.  so im waiting for the latter cars to be scheduled for production at this point.

Also the MTH AAR 40' box car is a very nicely detailed car, so when they are scheduled for production, I will have some special runs done.

5.  QUESTION..... If i do a special run of either the Atlas (former MTH) PS-1 box car with the 7' door, or the PS-2 34' covered hopper, would u be willing to pay 81.95 a car for them..especially considering that they are not heavily detailed?

Thx

beth

We need new models, not cookie cutter repeats.

The manufactures now have the option of 3D laser scanning real life freight cars and they can have 3D printers assembled that are long and narrow to print locomotive and freight car models. \

There are 3D printers that can print items out of aluminum and stainless steel. They need to use those 3D printers to print scale railroad models.
