I got an email today that my BNSF Heritage Trinity Hoppers shipped to me and are on the way. They look sweet!

I asked Jerry in an email about doing all the BNSF heritage cars (Trinity or not) in the future and his reply was, "We plan on doing all the BNSF cars". Very good news for some of us! Not sure if you have to be in the club for the future cars, like these were,  but I would assume that to be the case.

These pictures are from the Atlas web site.

The BNSF Frisco and Great Northern Railway Trinity 5161 3-bay hoppers have been sent out to the members of the Golden Spike Club.

If you join on the basic membership, they might have some hoppers remaining to sell.

If they make all the schemes, that means that ATLAS employees will have to get the Greenbrier 5188 Cu. Ft. 3-bay covered hoppers into production. It is clearly different from the Trinity 5161 Cu. Ft. 3-bay hoppers.

Joe & Andrew,

Thanks for your replies. I wanted to reply to all your input sooner but I wanted to learn more about the Golden Spike Club. I had seen postcards mentioning this club in all the Atlas-O rolling stock & locomotives that I bought but never cared to learn more until I saw these BNSF hoppers. I just visited the Atlas-O website & saw their application form. So I understood that the Deluxe Membership includes a club car. But with 2 car choices for the BNSF Heritage hoppers, how does a member get both cars & what would they cost beyond the $69.95 annual fee?

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan

Andrew,

That is an interesting thought. Is there a way to know which heritage schemes are correct for the Trinity hoppers & which ones would require the Greenbrier cars? Since MTH also announced these heritage hoppers in their most recent catalog (2014 Volume 2) would any of the heritage road names be appropriate for their 4,650 cu. ft. ACF Centerflow hoppers?

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan
