Atlas caboose 3-rail to 2 Conversion | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have been searching for a particular Atlas caboose and can only find one in three-rail.

I am not fussed about pick-ups for lights etc.

Is conversion just a question of buying the appropriate trucks and couplers OR are the models adapted in any other way for the big three-rail couplers ?

I have both 2 & 3 rail cabooses. Both already have the end sills notched out for Kadee coupler boxes. You might even be able to change out the wheels only, remove the 3 rail couplers and install the Kadees.

Just get a set of Atlas replacement trucks in 2-rail and a pair of Atlas scale couplers. If you want to use Kadees, the box will attach to the car, but will stick out from the end sill a bit, plus you'll need a small shim to get the right height. Use 2mmx8 screws to mount them.
