I spoke with Steve (Mr. Muffin) right before Christmas and he was tracking all these wonderful new engines on their intermodal trek across the country. Last I heard they were in Chicago, getting very close!!!

I suspect we will see a message from Steve in the next few days that these have arrived and will be in our hands the first week (or second) of January.

Even though I am layout challenged, I can't wait to see my Santa Fe's and Amtrak units.

Steve has already cashed my check and sent me a confirmation for my order.

I suspect I'll see mine on or about January 5th.  It is very much dependent on just how quickly Atlas can repackage and distribute.  When they (Atlas) shipped the California Zephyr cars to Steve the carrier gave the drivers 4 days off for Thanksgiving.  So his order was sitting somewhere in Ohio for that period.

However, once Steve got them he turned them around VERY FAST and they were on my doorstep two days later.

FAST service and GREAT prices.  MR. Muffin is the Man!

Got an email from Mr. Muffin today talking about the addition real estate he has purchased to include space for stock and an additional layout or two.

He also included this statement:

Atlas O F7's at Atlas this week!
When I talked with atlas last Wednesday, the container with the F-7's had arrived in Chicago from the west coast and they were expecting it into New Jersey the first of this week.

Spoke to Beth at The Public Delivery Track today, as I have a Santa Fe ABBBA set due in this shipment.  Too bad Atlas-O doesn't just drop-ship these goodies.  My units will have 7,500 miles on them just here in the USA before I get them!!!    Probably on a cross-country UPS intermodal container train as we speak from California to NJ...  then however Atlas-O ships Beth's order to the dealership in Paso Robles, California... and then another UPS shipment back to me in Pennsylvania.  Heck, I'd even go pick mine up from Atlas-O in NJ just to save shipping costs -- not to mention the extra 5,000 shipping miles!!!

I believe when Atlas recently brought in the CZ sets they drop shipped them to the west coast dealers first [perhaps a distributor out there broke down and then forwarded or received a separate container]. I see Atlas just listed the Trinity 25.5 K tank cars and Tman hoppers as container shipped 12/27/16.

Hhmmm.... OK folks, today is January 4th... and the Atlas-O website still doesn't have these marked as shipping to dealers yet.    I guess like everything else these days, I'll believe it when I see it -- regardless of what dealers are telling us.

My only regret is that I've already paid my invoice -- something I will NEVER again do until the dealer has the merchandise in hand AND ready to ship the very day they send me the invoice.  Sorry dealers, you wouldn't ship the product before receiving payment... so why should we pay full invoice price weeks or months before you're ready to ship.   Next time an invoice arrives before the dealer/vendor is ready to ship, I'm gonna sit on it until it's absolutely clear to me that the dealer has the merchandise and is actually ready to ship.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I was late to the party on these F-7's, but managed to find a dealer who was good enough to call Atlas, and found an Amtrak A and B for me. I'm very excited to get my hands on these, because I've just built a train for them to pull. I've never done business with this dealer before, but I have heard of them, and they've been around for quite a while. He didn't ask for any money, but maybe that's why I'm a little nervous about actually getting them. He comes through and he's my hero! Fingers crossed!

Caboose Stop Hobbies? If you spoke with Merlyn then, yes, you will get them. I've done this a number of times with him - ordered stuff after the fact - and he's always come through because he orders extras of everything for this very purpose.

Simply put, they are the best Atlas dealer around.

How ever did you know? I'm feeling much better. So good, that when he calls I may drive down there and pick them up. About 3 hours each way.

Wait a minute, first you're talking about getting a 3rd Rail SD9 and now you've bought 2 brand new Atlas F units? Who are you and what have you done with the real Elliot?

I'm just full of surprises Matt.

I blame/credit this indirectly on John Coy. He put me up to creating my early Amtrak "rainbow" Empire Builder that I had long been dreaming about. After he "overpaid" for the 3 K-line GN BSB cars, he hooked me up with the two domes from another forum member. You can read about the train here. This will be, far and away, the most expensive single train I've ever bought, when it's complete. YOLO!

I am courious as to why Atlas has yet to ship out the F7's.  My only rational is that they shut down operations for Christmas & New Years.

Maybe they will be up and running next week.  Heck, I waited this long what is another week.  However, I agree with Rocky... I will withhold payment on the F3's until may dealer has them on site and will ship when my check clears.

The A-Z shipping schedule is the last place to reference shipping now as it is only randomly updated , some listed items never get updated. I received some products from my dealer this year and the schedule still had not been updated. The forum is the best place to get info as the dealers are invoiced by Atlas when product delivery is expected, I would assume this is when the container has been offloaded to the mfg rep on the west coast so there is shipping time involved to NJ and back out to dealer locations, it is possible prepaid product [both dealer and consumer] could be shipped directly from Atlas warehouse rather than traverse the country again, just saying!
