I'm new to Atlas, having only recenlty bought a Vermont Railways GP60. Love the look, the detail, the sound and how it pulls. Not loving the smoke. I have both the MTH getup, which I use with my iPad, and the CAB1 remote for TMCC. The smoke will not turn on with the DCS. It will turn on by holding down the  "9" on the CAB1 remote, but ony stays on a few seconds. I have filled it, blow down the stack, check it again and again, fill more, blow down the stack again, all the usual. It will ony stay on a few seconds, and while at a standstill. As soon I as I move, it stops smoking. Any ideas or suggections will be much appreciated.

This  loco was "new", I think, about 2018, having be sold as NOS. During that time, would grease (or other lube) harden or otherwise vacate a can motor? I've only run this a few hours (miles), yet last night,it began to make etherial sounds from within the carboy. The gear train has been oiled and greased appropriately. I really dont want to take this apart, but don't want to hurt it either. Will appreciate suggestions on that too!!

Many thanks, and don't forget your loved ones on the 14th! Run an extra!!

Thank John,

I was wondeing the same thing, even though it was "new" loco when I got it. I reread the instructions 3 times, but the smoke would always stop with seconds of letting go on the "9" key.

Same with the can motors, if you happed to read my query about them.

One of the things about New Old Stock is can never really be sure how they were stored. Extereme temps or extreem changes, etc can take a toll.  Guess I''ll have to tear it down.
