Does anyone know if the EL's are out yet??

Yes. Both the EL and the MoPac I ordered arrived at the dealer a week or so ago. If no one else has posted pix by the time they arrive (could be two or three weeks - dealer waiting for other things to arrive to combine into one shipment), will post pix.

It will be a Paducah rebuilt "chopped" Geep, leaning heavily towards a GP10.
Did anybody receive a set of instructions with their new Atlas GP-7's?
Thanks.

I did not. I was wondering the same thing.

Fair enough. Very strange. Maybe they are online or something. Looks like a call to Atlas. Thanks for your reply.

Weird. I looked before for the manual online and didn't see it, but it's on the Atlas site now. Maybe I just missed it.

Many York's ago, in an Atlas seminar, Jim Weaver mentioned that these 7 series GPs would have the prototypical 'T' handrail fittings.
His work lives on...
My apologies for being a pedant, but an FYI about the use of an ellipsis:
- Chicago Manual of Style: [space][period][space][period][space][period][space], e.g., "Sometime in 2014 . . . "
- AP style: [space][period][period][period][space], e.g., "Sometime in 2014 ... "
Regardless, there should be a space before the first period in the ellipsis and there should only be three periods.

More importantly, @3rail, let's see some photos of your new DRGW Geep!

Sorry. Even I have to take some time off. Currently on vacation!

An Atlas representative just told me that the hard copy manuals were supposed to be in the box. So apparently that was a mistake. If anyone actually received one, please chime in. It sounds like no one has one.
Well the wait has actually been longer than I’ve see discussed here !!!! I can’t believe no one remembers when these GPs were Really first offered !!!!! 😮😳😵💫🫢 First offered Q4 2010 !!! I’m really surprised they finally got done - and pleased that they did !!!!!!!!!!!! Really nice models. Atlas !!!! Don’t make us Wait like this again !!!! 😜😜😜 We love this product !!!

That's embarrassing. They don't even use QSI/EOB anymore in their models.
Too bad Clinchfield was canceled early otherwise I would've ordered at least one.

I remember. Placed my order with Bob Thatcher in Feb 2011. I held onto the order out of curiosity after awhile. The order itself passed onto to a 3rd hobby shop before being filled. Eleven years has to be a record for delivery time. Ludicrous situation.

Well, received an EL and a MoPac today. Dealer was waiting for some other items to arrive to send everything together. What's a couple months at this point. Anyhoo...Mostly in good shape. A something (stirrup?) has come off one truck on the EL - it was loose in the packaging. A few mu hoses are splayed on the EL. After receiving mine, I'd say the color on the MoPac unit is closer to Purplepapa's first set of pix.
Here's a few snaps of mine. Oh, that's supposed to be an 18 percent gray target in the first pic, for color/density reference, though it's at least 45 years old. EDIT: Might as well add this. It was an overcast, but fairly bright, day.

Check the trucks to see of the spring hangers are all there. That's what that loose item looks like.

Thanks for the correct term on the item. I had figured out where it goes, but wanted to post the pic of as-received condition. The hanger goes on the truck pictured in the second image from bottom. The empty holes are visible.

Good Morning All - For those that have received their GP7's how do they sound and run?
@Fireball RR posted:Good Morning All - For those that have received their GP7's how do they sound and run?
My GP7 runs amazingly well. I've only run it conventionally so far. When the sound is off, you can hear how smooth the motors are. One of the nicer running engines I have.
Unfortunately, the sound is less than impressive. I was hoping with the long delay in releasing the engine that Atlas would improve the sound. The sound is like a 20 year old Lionel engine. I think someone in one of the threads suggested replacing the speaker with a Tang Band speaker, but I am not too familiar with replacing speakers, and I am unsure about doing that while the engine is still under warranty. Maybe someone else can chime in.

A few months back, I replaced a speaker in an atlas GP-35 that had underwhelming sound. I used the following speaker from Dalle Electronics (see photo). It was basically a drop in plus soldering 2 wires to the speaker terminals. I am very happy with the result; robust reliable sound! It’s the best $13 upgrade I’ve ever made on anything!

Thanks for the info. I ordered one. We'll see how it does!

The TangBand upgrade is great for the 2 rail locos which have Loksound boards in them because the Loksound audio amp has the power to drive a 4ohm speaker (it can actually drive 2 of them).
However, they're 4ohm impedance speakers, whereas TMCC uses an 8 ohm speaker. You could throw in a 4ohm resistor with the speaker, but you're still up against an old TMCC grade sound file. Changing the speaker to a better 8ohm one will help, as will sealing the back side of the speaker with a baffle.
I received the 2 rail EL and the detail is GREAT but the sound level is a bit weak compared to the former Atlas F units in my opinion. Love the brake sounds though and it runs like a top, I can't wait to convert to P48 and run it with my Erie F's! BTW- the only instructions in the box were a quick start guide. Sadly, mine should run long hood forward. They painted it correctly with the little "F" on the long hood but it runs backwards. I am sure it is an easy fix if I could see what CV to program to change direction. Now I am just waiting on my DL&W GP7 from Sunset.....
Hey Guys. I added a new video posted over in the Miscellaneous Section. "Photo and Video Album" in case anybody is interested.
