Hello:
There is a possibility of a layout in my house, and I if I build it, I am looking to be a realistic and prototypical as possible, and I would love to use the Atlas O 21st Century Signal System. The one problem is, I don't want to use Atlas O track, so can I use other types of track, like MTH Scaletrax, or Lionel Fastrack?

Absolutely.
Custom Signals offers additional signals and electronics which work with Atlas' 21st Century Signal System. Although the owner has retired, he still has inventory and a lot of wiring diagrams on his website.

After 30 years of selling the finest signals ever made in O-scale, as of May 1, 2014, Custom Signals will be closing down. I am going to retire and buid my own layout. At this point: 1. I will complete any layouts already in progress. 2. I will not be taking on any new layouts to signal. 3. I will not be doing any more signal planning. 4. I will still be selling products by e-mail with Paypal payment. 5. I will be doing an accurate inventory of all products and supplies for sale of the business this summer. Probably the "Starter signal project" is turnout switch indication, which can be done with dwarf lights. I did all 25 switches on my layout with the Atlas 6931 dwarf lights that were designed to wire to the through and out terminals of the Atlas switch motors. I don't know whether they would work with other switch motors. Most or all of Terry's signal system worked with Atlas components.
