I have about 20 Atlas switches on my layout, all of which have been modified in some way to make them perform better.  The other day I replaced one of the coils with a new coil I  purchased recently.  (the old coil got to the point where the plunger would not move fully inside it)  I notice the new coil seems to have much more power than the old one, which means the switch works with "gusto" now.

With Atlas being "out of switches" for what seemed like about a year.......I wonder what improvements have been made to the new switches they are selling now?  Anyone have experience and perhaps a comparison with the new products?  Thanks!

AMF,      No, haven't seen any of the new Atlas switches, yet.  As a big assist to myself, and others, please inform of the type, make, item number, etc. for the coils you used in the upgrade of your Atlas switches.  This would save us the time and possible unnecessary expense in locating any correct coils for our Atlas switches.

Thank you,

Jesse

The part number for the Atlas coil.....which is called the switch machine is # 6099.  This part number gets you the coil and the plunger and the related pieces that comprise the switch machine.  I don't think you can buy just the coil...and if you could buy just the coil....I really don't think you would want to.   I paid $16.99 plus $6.95 shipping.  I believe Atlas uses the same switch machine for all the variations of switches.  I have mostly 072, some #5, a few 054, a couple of wye switches and one 072/054.  All the switch machines I have appear to be the same.  Hope this helps.
