Atlas switches to Ross

Yes. I'm using mostly Atlas myself and have some Ross products which fit right in without any problems.  If you any questions just give Steve a call he has always had the answers to questions and the products to fit the bill.

From the Ross website.  PDF's of each switch.  O72 and O54 appear to be 14.65" long on the straight side. 

Ok so how much do I need to be concerned when making the transition from a designated Atlas switch track that is designed for the layout to Ross?

O-72 refers to the diameter of 72." But in answer to your question, you'd want Ross O-72 turnouts. You can use regular Atlas joiners to join the Atlas track to the Ross turnouts. You may have to move the end ties back about 1/4" on the Ross turnouts but the connection is solid. We use Ross turnouts on the club layout and have been very happy with them.

This is an Atlas to Gargraves connection.  Ross is easier, it does not have the tie flange below the rail that has to be removed on Gargraves track.

ATLAS DOES MAKE A JOINER THAT WILL CONNECT THEIR TRACK TO GARGRAVES, HOWEVER IT IS VERY DELICATE  STAY CONSISTENT AND USE THE SAME TRACK THROUGHOUT YOUR LAYOUT

I currently use only Atlas track and switches and I'm planning to use Ross switches for a yard I'm building.

It seems I can join Atlas tack to Ross switches quite easily.

If I've understood the schematics correctly, Ross 3 way switches have 11.25 degree turnouts, so I'll need 1/32 of a circle (1/2 072 curve) to achieve parallel tracks and 3.5" separation.

I don't see any Ross track 1/2 curves - can Ross track be cut to size as easily as Atlas?

What are the drawbacks to using the Atlas switches may I ask?

We recently viewed Cesar's (fatboy on the Forum) beautiful and quite large layout while at York and he used all Atlas exclusively. Had double slip switches, 'high speed' switches and everything in between, He said he didn't have any problems to speak of...

I'm a fan of Atlas switches but they don't make 3-ways and i need to use one for my yard.

This was done with Ross 3 way Switches and Gargraves track.  I believe the Ross 3 ways are #4 switches which I matched to #5 Ross switches.    A small adjustment to match the two different switches.  Gargraves may flex enough to accomplish the two curved yard leads.   I believe this was 4 1/4" track spacing center to center.

Ross makes transition curves for their 3-way turnout that put you on 3.5", 4.0" or 4.5".
