I just got a used Atlas Pratt Truss Bridge, but it is two rail. What are my chances of laying a conductive strip down the center and having it work for three rail. Rolling stock rolls easily. It is in the center of a 20' straight run so I don't thing traction would be a problem. The deck ties are closer than normal and look different than regular track. Has anyone done anything like this or should  I just take it out and use Gargraves over the bridge. I tried the Atlas website but couldn't find the 3 rail equivalent as a replacement part.

John,

I would assume you could buy (or procure) a solid rail and glue it in place for the center rail pickup.  Just make sure the track is the same height as the mating pieces of track so the pickups don't bounce up and down during the transition.  Also make sure you use a hardy glue like JB Weld or something that will hold tightly.

I am not familiar with this bridge, but I would call Atlas. They may be able to help you, I was able to get a bunch of switch parts (and some questions answered about the switches) from them that were not listed on their website. They don't list many parts on their website. Customer service didn't know what the parts were, they took my number and had one of their engineers call me back the next day, he was extremely helpful and not in a hurry to get rid of me like some places are.

The track of the Atlas bridge is attached to the bed with screws. All you need to do is remove the 2 rail track and install 3 rail track in it's place. The screws are on the underside of the bridge. I know the bridge track has double the normal ties,so gargraves would work if you respaced the ties(and added more) to match the Atlas bridge track tie spacing. Or you could just use normal Atlas 3 rail track----
