Dick, if you'd like a suggestion for another Frisco project that would sell easily, I have one for you. Contact Miller Light Works and look into doing a Frisco animated sign. It's something I've suggested before here and was even thinking of having one custom made for myself.

That's a great idea. We're having a convention planning committee meeting this weekend and I'll bring it up.

If this should happen...put me down for several.
I would take one too.

Here's a pic, although Miller I think already knows about it (scroll way on down) - http://condrenrails.com/MRP/Me...Frisco-Yale-Yard.htm

I remember seeing it over Yale Yard in Memphis. At night it was animated and (I think) flipped between "Frisco" and "Ship It On The Frisco". I believe if I was building it as a model I'd take a few liberties and have a third aspect that lit up saying "Southeast - Southwest".

Btw, there were a couple other railroads with I think an Ozark presence, the MoPac and Rock Island. Mopac was everywhere and RI I do believe ran to Hot Springs. Anyway, signs for those would sell too, if only someone knew what they looked like. My favorite road, the Cotton Belt, I guess we'll have to leave out of this as they were more a flatland road in eastern Arkansas. And I really don't recall ever seeing an illuminated sign for them, even having lived in PB.

Alan, I don't think so. If I am not mistaken, that was the sign in Memphis over the Mississippi River where the bridge is.
I don't know what happened to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's stored in some warehouse possibly in Memphis. Some BN employees at Memphis might know.

It was over Yale Yard in mid-city Memphis as seen from Airways Blvd. from the viaduct over the yards. I don't recall a sign over the Mississippi River where the Frisco and Harahan bridges are, but if someone says they saw one I'm not going to argue against it. And I never got down to Frisco's Tennessee Yard enough to know, but it's real likely they had a sign there too. They about had to.

The timeline is, the BN merger was in 1980 and I remember seeing the sign about then or a little after. The link mentioned above says it was there as of 1975. The Yale Yard is still in use, but the bigger Tennessee Yard has been BN's main one for quite a while.

And there's still an overpass for Airways where the painted Frisco logo is dimly visible. Fwiw there's also one for L&N on another overpass. And there's still standing the old, old NC&SL Aulon Tower.
Wish someone would get Golden Gate Depot to do a Frisco E-7 in the Texas Special scheme! All the other runs have been Katy TS engines, besides which I assume GGD would get the details right. Heard that JusTrains was going to sponsor such a run, but then fell out with GGD/Sunset, and Kirk passed away, and project was cancelled. Maybe get AmHobbies or JD Trains to them??
