Good evening folks.

A question about Lionel’s M7 Commuter Cars.  Do you think that Lionel will ever consider doing a LionChief run of the LIRR?  It’s about time, IMO. They’ve basically milking the M7 mold for everything that they can get (Batman, Christmas Transit, baseball teams, etc.) and now I see that they’ve re-issued the New York Yankees RTR set, this time with LionChief.  There would be no retooling needed at all to have LIRR livery.  A Candy Cane Transit Add-on 2-pack would be nice, but I digress.

Lionel already had both the conventional Metro North and LIRR M7s out at the same time before, so that can’t be reason.

Other than me replacing a Metro North powered car shell with a LIRR shell, that will be the only way that I could run the LIRR with a LionChief remote.  Would love to be able to run 2 LionChief M7 sets at the same time but of course that’s not possible with the same signal frequency that would going out to both trains.  The LIRR will be going to Grand Central so the current announcements would work without sounding weird. Of course, for the potential LIRR LionChief, the name of the station would best be changed to Penn Station.

Do you guys think they will have different frequencies than the Lionchief Metro North set so that we can run both the LC Metro North and the LC LIRR sets at the same time?

I have no information, but I'm all but certain of it. The older version of the Polar Express and the new with snowy roof had different frequencies; I can't imagine that the LIRR and Metro North would be the same frequency.
