I have my automatic gateman connected using fast track and a separate transformer. The issue is the gateman will activate as the train hit the activation spot but not move out of the house. Any suggestions?

Mine has a sweet spot voltage that it likes. Have you tried varying the voltage?
You did not indicate the model number of the Gateman but perhaps it is a 145. Take a look at http://www.olsenstoy.com/cd/accs/acc145p1.pdf. The page provides a schematic of the parts as well as hints for operation.

Try operating the mechanism by hand and check for any binding.

I just was checking one I have for sale and it works great at 14 volts, sluggish at 10 volts. Of course you may have a mechanical issue so do as previous poster said.
