This is a 2 rail forum.

I do not know and frankly I could care less if this loco runs on tubular track.

Runs fine on Atlas 2 Rail track.

Thank you for your thoughtful and charitable reply.  So very sorry to have offended you by asking a question.  You mentioned that it can run on 3-rail track, so maybe someone else cares.

Love the Deltic.  I have the Accurascale OO version.  They are doing a Class 66 for release around xmas.  Is the O ACE version DC only?  Who is doing the O scale 66?

Dapol is supposed to do them in 1:43 Scale.

I reserved mine in 2019 and the latest update that I got from my dealer, Hattons, in March, was that they were expected in Jan to March 2024.

These are just my opinion,

And Hattons say the Heljan Deltic will be available this fall, perhaps as soon as September;  DCC ready with an ESU socket, 2R only of course.  The tt green ones especially look like great models, but I'm prejudiced......UK009-1

Flying Scotsman arriving at Kings +, photo'd from the signal box, in '64 -- when England was still England.....

Just got an email from Hatton's that they are cancelling my preorder for the Class 66, as they are going out of business.

Dapol, also had an announcement on their website, from Feb 2023, that these are going to be delayed, even more.

When I reserved mine from Hatton's, 4 years ago, I ordered the DCC version but later found out that unlike with US, 2-rail locomotives, where DCC locomotives also come with Sound, British, 2-rail DCC locomotives do not come with Sound, unless explicitly stated in the description that they are Sound-fitted.

I plan to reach out to Dapol to replace my reservation, but this time for a Sound fitted, DCC model.

Same here, but I was considering cancelling it anyway as I am just tired of waiting for what might be "vaporware" so now I will not need to do anything. I'll be happy with my 00 scale ones.

John,

would it be possible to take and show a photo of the bottom of the engine.

I'd like to see the 3rd rail mechanism..  When I inquired with the two top sellers in GB of O scale/gauge,  No one had heard of such a thing.. I've been looking for something like this for quite some time... Look forward to more pics...

Thanks

Unfortunately, I think John passed away in December.

Here is a link to the "In Memoriam" section of the latest O Scale Resource.

And here is a link to the OGR thread concerning his passing.

God bless you J. Dunn! May you have the high ball, Green lights all the way and the windbehind your back! Sorry, I just found out!

From their site

As I understand it, then, the Deltic could run on tubular three-rail track but using DC/DCC only.  Conventional or other AC operation would damage the locomotive's electronics.  Presumably, using appropriate AC boards from Dallee, etc. would permit AC operation.  Since the current Razorback Traction test track layout is still under construction, I could, if desired and there is  a demand, configure either the O42 outer oval or O31 inner oval to use Atlas or similar scale 3-rail track to perform such conversions.
