Since Bachmann no longer produces the Davenport 0-4-0 Gas Mechanical in On30 how does one repair and maintain an existing model? My loco lights up so it is getting electricity, but it won't move. What do I need to check and should I likely replace if I can get the parts?

Did it ever run? If you take teh shell off you should probably be able to see where the power goes to the motor (two wires). I would try and see if one is broken, and/or use a battery or something with low volatage and run wires to the motor and see if it turns over. If so, perhaps the pick-up wiring is damaged or dirty.
or the gears stripped(not familiar with the gas mechanical but other bachmmann small engines had gear problems}
