From Model Railroader magazine: "It is with the most profound sorrow that we announce the death of former Model Railroader magazine editor Neil Besougloff. Neil passed away from COVID-19 on Sunday. Happy Railroading to a great man, a passionate modeler, and a good friend."

I use to read his editorial in the early days of CTT.
Seemed like a nice guy.

May God rest his soul in eternal light. My condolences to his family, friends and former colleagues.
It is such a shame that his retirement was cut short by this virus.
Hopefully a vaccine will be made available soon to put it to rest and thereby ending its deadly scourge. Far too many good people have died needlessly due to this virus.
This is sad news, He was the editor who put my layout in MR. He was very easy to work with and a stand up guy who was enthusiastic about model railroading in all its forms.
So sad to hear this news. All of the kind posts reveal how important his contributions were to the hobby. Condolences to all his family and friends.
I agree with John Sethain this is indeed sad and he will be missed. He was the editor who accepted several of my articles for publication in CTT and I always looked forward to talking to him at York.
Sincere condolences to Neil's family, friends, and former colleagues at Kalmbach from the entire staff at O gauge Railroading. I had the opportunity to speak with Neil on a number of occasions over the years, and he was a gracious, knowledgeable, and very capable competitor.
I am very sad to see this. My condolences to his family and the MR family He will be missed.

Very sad news indeed. Neil was passionate about his job, his various hobbies, and loved his family. We had many interesting adventures over the years, always hoped there would be one more.
Very sad. Will keep his family in our prayers.
A recognized name, too, way too, close to home! Did not and do not want to lose anybody out of the "train fraternity"! I read his contributions and am sorry to hear this!
Just read this. Neil was an interesting, thoughtful and strongly opinionated person who cared about our hobby and raised the bar for me at O Gauge Railroading as a highly competent competitor whose insights were always worth reading.
We had a conversation once at a train show in New Jersey that I still remember as memorable.
Really hate that virus. It has stolen another good person from us!

Terrible news! My condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad news. My condolences to his family. It really hits home how nasty this virus is when you hear it took someone like Neil.
Indeed, a loss to the model railroad family. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Sadly, Corona will take many more lives in the months to come. A sign of the times perhaps? Everyone must do his and her part to keep family members and friends alike safe from this terrible virus, including our most precious treasures here on earth, our children!

Hi all,
Very sorry to hear of this. I always enjoyed what Neil had to say in CTT and Model Railroader. He was a committed and opinionated model railroader. I was sad to see him leave Kalmbach so suddenly, without even so much as a "farewell" editorial. He certainly didn't have a long retirement with his family in Mexico; truly a shame.
Stay well, everyone. Wear a mask and/or socially distance. That's all we can do at this point against this tenacious disease.
Chris
My condolences to Neil's family and friends.
Jim
I'm saddened to hear of Neil's passing. Condolences to his family and the people at Kalmbach.

WOW! I may have met him at a Montvale NJ train show last century! His editorials at CTT were great. My condolences to him and his surviving family.
Sad news ideed....
Very sad to hear. He was a great model railroad lover and helped grow the hobby. Now gone way too soon. **** this virus; as the months roll on we lose more and more innocent lives to it. May they find a vaccine soon, soon, soon, Please, God hear me.
2020 is our “Annus Horribilis.”
Scary.
Been reading though my old CTT's lately, prior to disposal of (most of) them. I never met Neil, but his work in that magazine always stood out. It was a bit more "Model Railroader-ish", as was the magazine then.
My condolences to Niels family.

Sad news. Did Kalmbach ax Neil a year or two ago when they unceremoniously kicked Bob Keller to the curb from CTT?
Shocked and sad to hear this. My condolences to his family and friends.
For the past four or five weeks in order to wind down at bedtime, I have been perusing a couple of small CTT booklets featuring toy train layout designs by Neil. They will have even more special meaning now whenever I look at them.
