From Model Railroader magazine:  "It is with the most profound sorrow that we announce the death of former Model Railroader magazine editor Neil Besougloff. Neil passed away from COVID-19 on Sunday. Happy Railroading to a great man, a passionate modeler, and a good friend."

Just read this. Neil was an interesting, thoughtful and strongly opinionated person who cared about our hobby and raised the bar for me at O Gauge Railroading as a highly competent competitor whose insights were always worth reading.

We had a conversation once at a train show in New Jersey that I still remember as memorable.

Really hate that virus. It has stolen another good person from us!

Indeed, a loss to the model railroad family.  Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.  Sadly, Corona will take many more lives in the months to come.  A sign of the times perhaps?  Everyone must do his and her part to keep family members and friends alike safe from this terrible virus, including our most precious treasures here on earth, our children!

Hi all,

Very sorry to hear of this. I always enjoyed what Neil had to say in CTT and Model Railroader. He was a committed and opinionated model railroader. I was sad to see him leave Kalmbach so suddenly, without even so much as a "farewell" editorial. He certainly didn't have a long retirement with his family in Mexico; truly a shame.

Stay well, everyone. Wear a mask and/or socially distance. That's all we can do at this point against this tenacious disease.

Sad news.  Did Kalmbach ax Neil a year or two ago when they unceremoniously kicked Bob Keller to the curb from CTT?
