I recently purchased a Ballast Ground Mat and noticed the ballast is falling off somewhat.
What would you recommend I use on the mat to keep it from "shedding"?

Same thing I normally ballast with. 50% Woodland Scenics Cement, 25% Elmers Glue, 25% water. 100% Woodland Scenics Cement would work, but I'm too cheap to use it full strength.
Put it in a spray bottle and let er rip...

Nothing against Woodland Scenics, but 50% Elmer's Glue and 50% water will work just fine, too. Just remember to spray with wet water first.
What worries me is that the ballast mat uses a thin paper backing...not sure what effect the water will have on it.
Maybe use rubbing alcohol in place of water?
